Barrios (852), Nashville, Tennessee, USA Apr 11, 2009 12oz bottle. Pours a leggy off-white head with a beautiful dark amber/ruby, clear body. Aroma is sweet dark fruit, dark sweetness, and alcohol. Tastes the same. Molasses stands out in the finish. Almost sickeningly sweet all around. This is port wine in beer form. Meatmallet (120), Salem, Illinois, USA Apr 8, 2009 Dark brown with a medium tan head. The smells of rasins, brown sugar, figs, plums, and alcohol all stand out.The taste of alcohol and dark fruits blow me away. I can feel the alcohol burn through my nose and in just a few sips I can feel a warming come over me. Very powerful. It is also very sweet. Not something I could drink all of the time even though I like the alcohol burn and sweetness.
curly (548), Nashville, Tennessee, USA Apr 7, 2009 Pours a hazed brown with some tan head. Aroma is alcohol, raisin, coffee, chocolate, honeysuckle, nut, and molasses. Taste is very dynamic with toffee and raisin, some alcohol tingles the nose. Finishes nice and bitter like coffee. Toasty and delicious. Could be more textured but age would surely help. sigma23 (217), , Maine, USA Apr 5, 2009 pours amber/brown with no head. aroma is heavy alcohol but with malts and sweet dark fruit. drinks hot with 20% and is sweet and rich. full mouth feel and finishes hot. will be much better with age i would expect mjs (1445), Helsinki, Finland Mar 28, 2009 (Bottle, 0.355 l, at Pikkulintu, Helsinki, on 2009-03-27 -- shared with isos, thanks!) Reddish and hazy. Lots of raisin and malts in aroma. Full bodied, warming an dry palate with little bit of carbonation. Malts, wood and raisin in aftertaste. Adam77 (407), Eastampton, New Jersey, USA Mar 25, 2009 Poured brown with almost no head. Aroma of booze. Some raisin and fruit flavor but mostly booze. A big booze bomb. suchen (81), , Pennsylvania, USA Mar 20, 2009 Poured a beautiful raisin-y amber with a thin off-white head that stuck around the edges of the beer throughout. Aroma is raisins, brown sugar, soy sauce, and alcohol. Flavor is much of the same, without letting the soy become overpowering as in the Sam Adams Imperial Stout. Thick palate with a lasting sticky finish and alcohol burn that was surpisingly not that bad. Loved this beer! Jonte (801), Gothenburg, Sweden Mar 14, 2009 Bottle. Reddish brown colour with a minimal beige head. Very sweet and lots of raisins and burning alcohol. Also notes of caramel, toastiness, potatoes!?, tea, strong wine. Thick mouthfeel. Very nice in small amounts. Minimal drinkability.
