A very sweet beer, but not too sweet. Pours a very nice amber color with a minor white head. The taste of raisons and candi sugar hit you like a club to the tounge. A great strong ale!

Draft at Tap and Handle last week. Brown appearance with a beige head and light lacing. Kinda boozy, malty, moderately sweet, dark and fruity with a strong finish. Full body. OK.

2014 bottle shared. The beer is a clear copper color with a beige head of foam that dissipates quickly. The aroma has a lot of alcohol, but also has a bit of dark fruit and cinnamon as well. The taste has sweetness, but the alcohol is very hot still. Maybe I drank this too fresh.

Bottle from a trade. Many thanks yourilevesque! Copper colour, almost no foam. Bit syrupy. Sweet nose of raisins, sweet malts, caramel. Some fruitiness. Berries and other dark fruits. Very well balanced. Great beer!

Bottle into snifter glass, clear deep reddish-copper color with tan head. Aroma notes of alcohol, raisins, caramel malt sweetness, toffee and dark fruits. Taste adds brown sugar, molasses, berries, prunes, figs, bread, candy sugar and booze. Heavy body, low carbonation, creamy, rich with boozy sweet fruity finish. Like a really heavy raisin barleywine, actually very drinkable for 18+ freakin’ percent!

Pours redish-brown with a small off white head. Aroma is fruity Belgian-like yeast and raisins verging on leather. Taste is sweet raisins, leather, & dark dried figs. The alcohol is there but not super obvious. Really rich and good.

Definitely a sipping beer. Dark reddish brown pour with a quickly fading fizzy head. Aroma is sweet and boozy. Feel is kinda syrupy, like a pourly mixed fountain soda. Taste is sweet dark fruits and booze. Not as much alcohol as you might expect from the abv. Bold and assertive sipper. Maybe a bit too much.

Pours a clear copper from the bottle with minimal ring of bubbly off-white head that leaves light lace. Aroma is big liquor sweetness with hint of dark fruit and soy. Taste follows with big sweetness, huge house, dark fruit finish. Too much for me, but not horrible.

The booze is this is just unnecessary and off putting. Really bad. Not a fan.

12 ounce bottle. Pours a tawny deep reddish brown color with a brief beige head. Boozy toasted malt nose has notes of cognac and burnt sugar. First sip yields rich burnt toffee notes and warming alcohol. Bittersweet and intense with a slight earthy component. Noticeable dark dried currant notes as well. Finishes dry and complex with a long bitter aftertaste. Remarkably smooth for such a high gravity brew. Drinks like a dry sherry or fortified wine. Definitely a sipping ale. Another classic from Dogfish Head.

Bottle to glass. Pours is dark brown with white head that fades quickly. Aroma is raisins and molasses. Taste follows with some brown sugar and a strong malt sweetness. Booze is there, but what I would expect from something so huge. Nice beer for being so big.
