Smells like brandy with raisins. Sweet/bubblegum plum flavor with a hefty alcohol kick, reminds me of plum wine. The alcohol prevented me from examining the flavors very deeply. I felt that the sweet flavors were too simplistic and strong, present just to mask the alcohol. plovmand (1739), Helsinge, Denmark
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Sep 17, 2008 Bottle at EBF. Brown colour with a small creamy head. Powerfull aroma of berries, overripe fruit and alcohol. Medium body. Very rich flavour of dark fruits like raisins and prunes. The alcohol gives this beer lots of warmth and its the last thing you will experience from each sip. jake65 (1733), Williston, North Dakota, USA

Candied sugar and citrus. Flavor is rich in sweetness and plenty of dark fruity qualities. It has a carmalized sugar quality to it. A nice warming effect and soothing on the palate. | 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | May 27, 2007 Bottle. Raisins and alcohol in the nose with perhaps a hint of molasses and caramel. Dark murky reddish brown and a glowing ruby red when held to light. Large lasting tan head. Excellent lace. This is the second beer today that I’ve had where a source from the bottom of the glass produced plumes of visible carbonation. Initial mouthfeel is high alcohol and bountiful sweetness. A dessert beer. Prior to having this beer I ate a box of Mike & Ike’s. I think I’ve had as much sugar in a few sips of Rasion D’Extra as I did in a whole box of Mike & Ikes. Flavor is overly sweet. Alcohol is clearly present but suggests nowhere near 18.5%. If I were to have guessed, I would have guessed around 11-12%. The Extra clearly means extra sugar. More drinkable than the 120 minute by a fairly good margin. Improves as it warms and in that spirit becomes very warming indeed. A very nice beer. joet (1709), Fulton, California, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Jul 9, 2004 Raisins, prune and rich mission figs, strong alcohol, a rich maltiness that puts this way above just a big brother to raison d’etre. I’ve had the 23 and it was spectacular. The alcohols are smooth. A bit of hazelnut and almond. Wow! Love the ruddy color. theisti (1696), Leawood, Kansas, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | May 28, 2008 12 oz. bottle courtesy of Zinister. Bottled on March 15, 2007. Pour is a cloudy orange brown with a small tan head. Aroma of honey, raisins, cooking butter scotch sweetness. Behind all of that, a touch of booziness. Quite a bit going on in the nose. Taste starts with a lot of raisins, and a lot of mouth puckering acidity. Pretty soon after is a huge blast of alcohol. Really made my mouth water, this tasted way too boozy for me. I realize this is a huge beer, but the complexity and subtlety in the aroma led me to believe the flavor would follow suit, with some balance. It really didn’t follow suite, the alcohol was really sharp and jagged. I originally had this at around 55 degrees. As it warmed to room temperature, it improved a bit, becoming a touch more integrated, still too much for me. As this got to the bottom of the bottle, it was more enjoyable, though that may have been the drunkenness. Thanks for sending this my way, Mike! BuckeyeBoy (1696), Boise, Idaho, USA
