3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Sexy dark ruby amber liquid. As is expected from a beer of this strength, very little head forms, then verily disappears without a trace. For a beer this massive, it gives off surprisingly little aroma, though I was able to discern vinuous alcohol, raisins (duh), lots of sweet malt and a hint of soy. Flavor is dominated by sweet malt and dried fruit -- raisin, fig, apple, and perhaps some orange peel. Hops provide just enough bitterness to remind you that this is a beer and not a fruit liquer, but are otherwise overwhelmed. Noticeable alcohol makes no secret that this is a gigantic beer, yet the alcohol never becomes crude or intrusive. Thick, cloying palate. Iím pretty fond of other DFH super-high-gravity experiments (120, Worldwide), but this oneís a bit too over the top for me.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours a brown color, no head. Aroma is caramel, toffee, raisin, and booze. Flavor is sweet raisin and caramel. This is quite good, though I find it hard to believe itís over 18%.

4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
12 oz bottle - finally found this somíbitch, and had to go all the way to Rhode Island to do so. Murky amber/cola colored pour with minimal head. Big aroma and taste of raisin / dark fruit, malt, toffee, plenty of sweetness, and although the insanely high ABV is well hidden for its level, you canít truly hide 18%+ - so you get some sweetness and late dryness from that as well. Very, very good.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
From notes. Finally found the long-lost notebook from the 4 Elf Party at Dark Horse on December 13! So, thatís where this was found. Shared by someone who offered a pour to hang around the fire. Circa 2006. Thanks Ryan! The pour is a dark mahogany with garnet shining through and a thin tan head, not much. The aroma is pretty great. Lots of dark fruits. Raisins, cranberry, roasted malt, and a little brown sugar. The booze is incredibly hidden. The flavor is much of the same. Just really solid. Love the maltiness and the fruitiness happening. The mouth feel is really thick, but there isnít a lot of carbonation. It hangs around, offering the lovely fruits and caramel long after itís gone. Damn. Really, really good with this kind of age on it!

1.7 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20
Recent vintage. Pours rusty brown with a sheet of light tans. Smells of booze, raisins, fusels, artificial cherry. Flavor of alcohol, prunes, burnt raisins, more alcohol, some solvent. Thin bodied with low carb and a semi dry finish. Well, not the worst of the DFH high ABV series, but not good either.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
bottle for my hotel room purchased in Fort Wayne, Indiana or as the bar tender at the bar at which I was previously a patron... the arm pit of America. I thought that was NJ but whom am I to disagree. anyway, this one pours dark plum purple brown. gives a quick flash of a head. Nose is full or raisins and molasses. taste is pretty much the same with some brown sugar and a massive booze burn. In other items, it is so much easier typing ratings in on computer as opposed to ipad/iphone. no auto correct errors necessary.

4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
12oz bottle poured into a tulip. Sweet chocolate and cherry aromas come off the beer with a boozy warmth. As it settles out, raisin aromas and a light port wine become prevalent en route to a final note of woody cherry with toffee. The pour is thick, and dark, but an oily clear cola brown hue with a dense brown head that retains a moderate ring, wispy surface, and leaves some runny lace. The taste is a medium high sweet with a supporting medium bitter and secondary notes of light sour and light umami. The texture is thick and chewy with lots of fizzy carbonation and a full body with flavors of dark, dry fruit, wood, light spice, and a roast-like character that develops as the glass warms along with a cooked brown sugar note. The finish is a boozy warmth with wood and clean spice that leaves an aftertaste thatís dry and clean; spicy with a lingering smokey, dark chocolate and a cloying, dark, tart fruit thatís lightly astringent.
