3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Sexy dark ruby amber liquid. As is expected from a beer of this strength, very little head forms, then verily disappears without a trace. For a beer this massive, it gives off surprisingly little aroma, though I was able to discern vinuous alcohol, raisins (duh), lots of sweet malt and a hint of soy. Flavor is dominated by sweet malt and dried fruit -- raisin, fig, apple, and perhaps some orange peel. Hops provide just enough bitterness to remind you that this is a beer and not a fruit liquer, but are otherwise overwhelmed. Noticeable alcohol makes no secret that this is a gigantic beer, yet the alcohol never becomes crude or intrusive. Thick, cloying palate. I’m pretty fond of other DFH super-high-gravity experiments (120, Worldwide), but this one’s a bit too over the top for me.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle. Dark reddish brown pour with a sudsy layer of tan foam. Big notes of brown sugar, booze-soaked raisins, Belgian yeast and toffee in the aroma. Taste blends caramel malt, raisins and dates along with some cherry and fruity esters toward the end. Mouthfeel is relatively dense and creamy with soft carbonation and more raisins and booze in the finish. Overall, the high ABV does a good job of holding all the dark fruit and sugary malt flavors together.

4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Talk about big beers, this one coming in at or above 18% abv. I poured this from a bottle (2014 vintage) into a snifter. Aroma is of dark fruits and booze. A rather good blend of booze and dark fruits (raisins). Taste matches the nose but with a burn down the throat and belly. Appearance is a clear burgundy color with a barely noticable light tan ring of foam along the perimeter of the glass. Palate is well balanced with a creaminess that comes from the combination of carbonation and viscosity. An excellent beer I recommend you swwk out. I am sure this will age well. Cheers!

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Draft at Tap and Handle last week. Brown appearance with a beige head and light lacing. Kinda boozy, malty, moderately sweet, dark and fruity with a strong finish. Full body. OK.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
2014 bottle shared. The beer is a clear copper color with a beige head of foam that dissipates quickly. The aroma has a lot of alcohol, but also has a bit of dark fruit and cinnamon as well. The taste has sweetness, but the alcohol is very hot still. Maybe I drank this too fresh.

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Bottle from a trade. Many thanks yourilevesque! Copper colour, almost no foam. Bit syrupy. Sweet nose of raisins, sweet malts, caramel. Some fruitiness. Berries and other dark fruits. Very well balanced. Great beer!

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle into snifter glass, clear deep reddish-copper color with tan head. Aroma notes of alcohol, raisins, caramel malt sweetness, toffee and dark fruits. Taste adds brown sugar, molasses, berries, prunes, figs, bread, candy sugar and booze. Heavy body, low carbonation, creamy, rich with boozy sweet fruity finish. Like a really heavy raisin barleywine, actually very drinkable for 18+ freakin’ percent!

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours redish-brown with a small off white head. Aroma is fruity Belgian-like yeast and raisins verging on leather. Taste is sweet raisins, leather, & dark dried figs. The alcohol is there but not super obvious. Really rich and good.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Definitely a sipping beer. Dark reddish brown pour with a quickly fading fizzy head. Aroma is sweet and boozy. Feel is kinda syrupy, like a pourly mixed fountain soda. Taste is sweet dark fruits and booze. Not as much alcohol as you might expect from the abv. Bold and assertive sipper. Maybe a bit too much.
