bp (308), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA Jun 11, 2008 Bottle: pours a dark reddish color with absolutely no head, aroma is sweet, dark fruits, spices and a bit of the booze, taste is dark fruits and sweet, no carbonation, the alcohol is not overpowering in the taste but you can feel its presence as it warms your belly. My main problem with this one is that it is much too sweet. I’d like to have aged this one a while longer.
xpimptastikx (21), Austin, Texas, USA Oct 7, 2008 Damn... Pours deep copper color with a light head. Smells pungent, of grapes(duh) and alcohol. I needed a friend to help me finish the 12oz bottle. ironchefscott (243), long beach, California, USA Oct 5, 2008 2004...thanks floydster
super...alcoholic on the nose
tons of rasin flavors and what not...needs a good 10 years to lay down! soyorganic (128), Denver, Colorado, USA Oct 4, 2008 Bottle: wow, I could smell this while standing up from the table after I poured it. Pours a red/orange color. Aroma: definitely raisins, with caramel and grape notes. Thick taste with flavor very similar to what I described in the aroma with a slightly grape juicey aftertaste that is overpowered by the alcohol taste. I love the sweetness and flavor to this beer, but it would be so nice if the alcohol was not so noticeable. A little more and you will need a chaser. larsniclas (3029), Gothenburg, Sweden Oct 4, 2008 Sampled at EBF08.
Deep copper. Small tan head.
Sweet, almost sugary, maltiness.
Medium bitterness and a bit too sweet and alcoholic. dogfish120love (78), west hartford, Connecticut, USA Oct 3, 2008 Pours a weird brownish iced tea color with a thin head. smells heavily of raisins, fig, prune and alcohol. smells extremely sweet. Tastes very sweet, flavors include raisin, plum, and fig just like the aroma, finishes with an alcohol kick and an almost gritty texture.
