Jan 14, 2009 Pours brownish orange with and oily head. Aroma is raisins, ripe fruits, brown sugar, and caramel. Taste is ripe fruit, raisins, brown sugar, and hot alcohol. Very sweet and thick mouthfeel. A nice sipper.

Jun 8, 2007 Now this was nice!! had on tap at the brewpub. decent tan head caremel and dried fruit nose a little alcohol there too. malts and fruit are very evident as well as the high concentration of alcohol.

Jul 12, 2007 Bottled. Dark brown and reddish in colour with a rather small head. Very powerfull but still well balanced. Malt, raisins, other dark and dried fruits, hops and alcohol.

Jun 28, 2007 Bottle at Københavnske øldage 07. Copper colour with a small beige head.. Aroma is raisin, alcohol, sweet, caramel. Flavour is raisin, alcohol, sweet. Nice beer.

Dec 26, 2008 Bottle that I picked up from a beer store in NYC in Nov 08. Pours murky dark reddy brown if there was a head then it soon buggered off. Wonderfully sticky and sweet, big fat plumptious Ma Larkin sized raisins sit on my tongue. I am sat at home drinking this in front of a roaring open fire, its bloody marvellous. Needs to be treated with respect, I sat for over an hour cradling my one. A7 A4 F8 P5 OV16 4.0

Aug 15, 2006 12 oz bottle. hazy brown/amber colow with almost no head. existing head tan with small bubbles. raison, oak barrel, plum and alcohol aroma. BAM! crazy sugar, caramel, raison, alot of carbonation that mellows after a few minutes. Nice alcohol warming. This beer got better as it warmed. could use a little more aging I believe. No born on date on bottle. 11/05 from what I read here. I think it should be madatory to have a BOD for aging beers. None the less I have been waiting to drink this beer for 6 months. Tonight it was the time and it was just what I needed.

Aug 1, 2008 I had this at the South Shore Beer festival on Long Island. I waited to rate this until I had done a formal rating of Raison D’Etre. This is a killer beer. Just like its cousin its has a beautiful mohagany appearance. The aroma is malty sweet, with notes of candy sugar and fruit. The flavbor is the same, but with noticeably higher alcohol, and a fruitier flavoring, probably from the raisins. The finish has a warming from the alcohol not unlike a brandy. Awesome beer.
