| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Dec 26, 2008 Bottle that I picked up from a beer store in NYC in Nov 08. Pours murky dark reddy brown if there was a head then it soon buggered off. Wonderfully sticky and sweet, big fat plumptious Ma Larkin sized raisins sit on my tongue. I am sat at home drinking this in front of a roaring open fire, its bloody marvellous. Needs to be treated with respect, I sat for over an hour cradling my one. BAM! crazy sugar, caramel, raison, alot of carbonation that mellows after a few minutes. Nice alcohol warming. This beer got better as it warmed. could use a little more aging I believe. No born on date on bottle. 11/05 from what I read here. I think it should be madatory to have a BOD for aging beers. None the less I have been waiting to drink this beer for 6 months. Tonight it was the time and it was just what I needed. tgncc (852), Bellmore, New York, USA

I waited to rate this until I had done a formal rating of Raison D’Etre. This is a killer beer. Just like its cousin its has a beautiful mohagany appearance. The aroma is malty sweet, with notes of candy sugar and fruit. The flavbor is the same, but with noticeably higher alcohol, and a fruitier flavoring, probably from the raisins. The finish has a warming from the alcohol not unlike a brandy. Awesome beer. carruthm (1187), Seattle, Washington, USA
