Sam is king of high alcohol beers. All three high ABV beers that become available down here I;’ve tried and liked. Ive had this out of the bottle and tap and love it.

Aroma- Cranberry, peach, vodka. Taste- Apricot, sugar, maple, golden raisins. Finish- so strong with booze that any other notes are over taken. This beer has to be drank between cellar and room temperature to be palatable in my opinion.

Bottle. Dark mahogany with ruby tints and little head. Aroma is raisin, apple, brown sugar, toast, brandy and caramel. Taste follows but adds some cinnamon and stingy alcohol. Thin mouthfeel, light carb and a long finish. Too hot to be really enjoyable. Probably better with a little age.

Huh, this beer was a little disappointing for me. It has no aroma but is very silly and smooth. It pots a nice thick raisin brown color. The flavor is sweet and thick. Certainly a raisin flavor l. The carbonation is very fine and hardly noticeable. Overall I love the flavor, texture, , color, and alcohol. The lack of aroma and the complexity are what disappointed me. No doubt it's a good beer and well worth the price!

Bottle. Poured brown, murky, small tan head. Aroma of dark fruit, caramel, malts and maybe some brown sugar. Taste is certainly boozy but not overwhelming; consistent with aroma, lots of fruit and brown sugar, very complex. A true sipper but highly enjoyable.

I am a dogfish head conissuer. I love this. It's easy drinking without being alcohol forward or revolting. The raisins bring balance to the force. I'm surprised at the abv because I don't feel it. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

"i think this one was around 18% but i’m not sure of that or the vintage. when i think of wordwide stout, i think of the raisiny sweetness, but no more. this beer redefines that term in the flavor and aroma. holy cow! surprisingly one dimensional in that regard but very tasty sipper. i’m guessing it had at least a little age on because for how strong it is, it wasn’t hot. very smooth, a little thick and sticky, but in a nice throat coating way. for around $10, probably can check this one off and move on, thanks to Pfoxyjohn, but I am glad to have tried it."

15 SEP 2007 vintage. Pours with scarce head; deep amber; strong fruitcake dunked in port aroma; strong alcohol burn it tastes as though its IBUs are higher than 20... it is much like a desert wine. Not sure I would classify this as a beer... more of a desert wine.

Bottle 2007. Aroma is 90% raisin, brown sugar, caramel, malt sugars. Body is thick with a long lingering sweet dates or raisin finish. To me it seems the sugars took over and went a little into over ripe dates and vinegar. I couldn’t even finish my 4 onces maybe it shouldn’t have been aged or something. Weird.

Bottle (12oz $12.50): dated 9/2006,8years old. Pour cloudy brown. There was quite a bit of sediment stuck to the bottom of the bottle. Big arisen, Big sweetness. Big warming in both aroma and taste. Bottle makes 19%ABV. Great sipper.
