What can only be described as a swift kick in the face of molasses, dark fruits, and sweet malts. No hiding the alcohol in this beer. Ruby brown, syrup like body. Low Carbonation. Definitely something you just have to try for yourself.

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jan 5, 2010 Little to no head on my pour. Sweet and rich. Very raisiny. Reminds me of a rich ruby port. Doesn’y quite have the woodiness of a tawny. Great beer. Just wish it weren’t so freaking expensive. 13mikey (178), New Hope, Minnesota, USA

BIG raisin aroma with the alcohol really coming through in the aroma. Flavor is also (no surprise) big time raisin, very sweet. Chewy sweet mouthfeel with a very boozy sweet finish. Massively flavored beer that you can enjoy for quite awhile. 41cubs (149), , New Jersey, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Dec 24, 2009 One dimensional in a grrrreeeaaat way. Raisin and pit fruits to a severe level all around. The sweetness in this is such a natural fig in the field type that it is never overwhelming. A Belgian-esque yeastiness pairs with the raisin and impending caramel character sticks around throughout to create a full roundness to the brew. Great medium oily body with sticky resins everywhere. Big, sticky sweet and lovely, this aged beautifully. Thank You Dogfish Head. 2007 12 oz. yobdoog (1543), Woodridge NY, New York, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Dec 23, 2009 Have had this many times. I feel it ages really well especially after Slander opened that aged Magnum at BCTC. Dark in color and really rich as it pours. Aroma is rich, sweet, caramel, molasses, raisins and grain. Flavor is sweet and slightly boozy with raisins and sticky caramel. Nice. waltersrj (63), Washington, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Dec 22, 2009 Pours deep caramel brown with a creamy tan froth. The nose is caramel, brown sugar, raisin, and alcohol. The taste is similar with a more profound sweet malt and raisin at first, followed with a caramel aftertaste and a very warm alcohol touch on the backend. This was one i’ve been saving for about 6 months and it was worth it. A really good beer from DFH. Toxygen (413), Sanford, Florida, USA

might not have noticed the raisin flavor if it wasn’t on the label but I think that’s a good thing. DeadGirl (243), West Palm Beach, Florida, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Dec 6, 2009 Pours opaque, murky brown into my pint glass, clear amber into my friend’s with minimal head in both from the 9 dollar, 12oz. bottle (aged two years): If I took a whiff of this blindfolded, I’d be sure it was soy sauce. Deconstructing it a little further, you get raisins, tootsie rolls and alcohol in the nose, and raisins. Extremely sweet malted, mild fruit flavors, and sharp alcohol that’s hidden well. Reminds me of brown, oven baked bread, or pears soaked in a Port. Thick mouthfeel. Drinkability: Strong. Rebuy: Yeah. #242 on 06122009, DG. dnstone (287), Mons, Belgium
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Dec 2, 2009 Rasiny sweet smelling. Deep amber brown, no head to speak of, filtered. The high alcohol content hits you up front blending to the sweet/rasin flavors and finishing warm and strongly roasty.
