dhlesq (233), Thousand Oaks, California, USA Jan 18, 2007 Vinous aroma of plums, honey, toffee. Appears a hazy, ruddy, orange-red with no appreciable effervescence or head. Flavor is cloyingly sweet, with an intense alcohol burn at the end, almost entirely overunning and destroying the underlying flavor of golden raisins and plums. Palate is syrupy though not as thick as I would have expected. Overall, an interesting experiment and one that I appreciate just for the sheer inventiveness of it, however not one that I would care to drink more than a snifter of.
blipp (713), Grand Island, New York, USA Aug 21, 2008 Bottle. Pours hazy red with a yellow head. Strong aroma, a bit sweet, with raisin and a bit of booze. Flavor is also sweet and fruity, with raisin, brown sugar and again, just a bit of booze. Very easy to drink for 18.5% ABV. blutt59 (657), Dallas, Texas, USA Aug 15, 2008 bottle, dark amber color, very pickled vinegar nose, flavor of sour raisins and prune, hot finish Woodsman52 (21), , Ohio, USA Aug 14, 2008 nice dark carmel color. has a thick mouthfeel and a stong rasion taste. i don’t like rasions too much. this beer i will not try again unless it is free. not bad though. radagast83 (1042), Springfield, Virginia, USA Aug 11, 2008 12 oz bottle, purchased sometime in mid-2007 (date lost to the winds). Pours a deep red-brown color with a small light tan head that dissipates quickly. Aroma is alcohol, malts, raisins and other dried fruits. Flavor is strong warming alcohol, with dried fruit - raisins. Enjoyable, but certainly only a once-in-a-while kind of beverage as I’d probably rather just drink Raison D’Etre. craftycarl21 (184), South Hero, Vermont, USA Aug 10, 2008 Pours red-orange, cloudy, with a small yellowish head. Alcohol, apricot, malt, and raisin are evident on the nose. Flavor is sweet, with candied orange peel, sweet malt, raisin, and a definite alcohol bite, due to the high ABV. Nice prickly mouthfeel, very nice brew.
