Swalden_28 (362), McKinney, Texas, USA May 15, 2008 Bottle, thanks to Hopdog!!!
Poured a deep hazy amber with light beige head, nice retention. Aroma of orange and apple. Flavor is very nice and balanced, sweet, with notes of coriander and orange peel with nice alcohol spice. Palate is full bodied and smooth, low-medium carbonation. Very nice beer...... EricE (145), Beltsville, Maryland, USA May 13, 2008 On tap at Max’s. Orange brown pour with a red tint. Hazy with not much head. Lots of Belgian wittiness on the nose. Spicy and wheaty! Flavor tastes like you’re regular old wit as well, except there’s just a ton of alcohol that overpowers it. It seems the alcohol is the only part of the pinot noir that’s in the beer. Completely undrinkable.... Elizavyeta (86), Minnesota, USA May 10, 2008 Perfumey and floral with a citrusy aroma. The head is thin and wispy, revealing a lovely amber body. Overall flavor is heavy on the orange, finishing into a lilac, lavendar, and almost smokey note. Light and open on the palate, a certain sweet and, again, perfume-like flavor creeps in.
Would be a nice accompaniment for a pear tart or possibly a bar of dark chocolate. WallyWalrus (139), Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA May 10, 2008 750ml bottle. Pours a reddish-amber color with a big white head. Aroma is light and earthy, with a mix of grains, wood, hops, cloves, and coriander. Taste is light and crisp, with a flavor of dark fruit, hops, grain, and spices giving way to a finish of warming alcohol and wood. Very wine-like when all is said and done -- light and refreshing, but full of flavor as well. Oakes (6556), Miami Beach, Canada May 9, 2008 Nice accent to the amber - a little blush if you will. Aroma has some dry woody notes with cherryish overtones. Alcohol kicks things off, adding vinous and cherry nuances. Finishes with a real flat sort of woodiness and very late alcohol heat. Wish there was as much subtlety in the beer as there is in that colour.
