GJF (480), Cedar Rapids, Iowa, USA Mar 16, 2009 Updated: Mar 20, 2009On tap at DFH. A nicely balanced ale--not so much wit really, but a nice belgian ale with pinot hints. Thick tan head, ruby color, light yeasty aroma and just the right touch of alcohol warming in the body. BiddleBrau (303), Midland Park, New Jersey, USA Mar 15, 2009 Nope, didn’t get this one. Hazy golden with light red tint and white head. Spicy and slightly sweet aroma, similar to a triple or wit combo. Spicy up front, then syrupy and an unwelcome medicinal (band-aid) aftertaste. Not pleasant at all. Sadly I feel they missed the mark by a wide margin on this one. On tap and Andy’s DFH Promo night. Hophead22 (1056), Redlands, by way of Wisconsin,, California, USA Mar 15, 2009 750ml from my boy Wolf. Shared with DuffManSW. Almost smells like a stinky cheese, some light friut as well, citrus matbe. Glowing orange color with a white head. Very tasty though, much different than the aroma, a little sweet and some alcohol in the finish. Another one missed be mspindler. ScottB (73), Bristow, Virginia, USA Mar 14, 2009 This one is interesting. Pours a gorgeous orange-red with a creamy off-white head that dissipates to a thin cap of lace. Aroma is all Belgian fruit with a hint of citrus. The pinot noir and oak do lend a wine-like tartness that is a bit off-putting at first. The more I drink it, however, the more I find it compliments the typical Belgian fruitiness. Thick, oily mouthfeel. Big, warming alcohol. Blaketj80 (78), Oklahoma, USA Mar 12, 2009 Updated: Mar 23, 2009Consumed at 50 degrees. Smells of dry white wine with a hint of grapes and oak. Pours reddish amber with lacing and thin white head. Has excellent body and amazing palate. Not a huge wheat fan, but it’s complexity makes you forget because it takes your taste buds on a ride. Has a much maltier profile than the smell makes you think. Tastes of orange, vanilla, and as smooth as the day is long. oteyj (716), Canterbury, New Hampshire, USA Mar 12, 2009 Pours a vivacious dark hazy peach with small white head. Aroma is quite tart with nectar, citrus, and spicy yeast. Flavor is sweet and somewhat yeasty- nicely hopped for the style- very inviting and welcomed. Finishes with fruity sweetness and a semi-dry lip smacking final swig. Palate is a tad on the thin side but nice considering the malt content. craftycarl21 (513), South Hero, Vermont, USA Mar 12, 2009 Pours a vibrant red-orange with a very small head. Aroma is sweet, with cherries, tart citrus, and some yeast from the belgian white character. Flavor is very sweet and vinous, definite fruity notes- has some dry alcohol notes at the finish. Nice palate, very unique and intriguing brew. icculus801 (24), New Orleans, Louisiana, USA Mar 5, 2009 Pours a hazy light amber with a thin white head. Aroma with the coriander and the wine really comes though. Flavor of a typical Belgian but then the wine comes in at the end as it dries out with a wonderful warm finish. A very interesting beer, and since it’s from Dogfish Head, you know it’s good.
