fdr137 (32), , New York, USA Feb 18, 2009 22 oz bottle. Pours a dark orangy brown with a thin off white, but creamy looking head. Aroma is herbal notes, orange peel, Taste is fruity up front, orange, some background lemon, finishes with a slight bitterness. Delicious. Mouthfeel is very coating. Swolf3 (252), Elkton, Maryland, USA Feb 17, 2009 Bottle shared with Gabe. Poured a orange with thin white head. Aroma was oranges, and wood. Taste wascitrus orange, spice, coriander, and wood. Very light textured and easy to drink another well done brew by DF. darkguardian (506), Florida, USA Feb 17, 2009 Tap (one of only two kegs in south florida, I think Brother Tuckers got the other)@ Coffee District. Pours a reddish orange with a long long lasting white head. Aromaticly sweet smell with alot of caramel and citrus. Flavor is excellent but there is one drawback that kept this from being exceptional. On the good side there is alot of sweet caramel, complex fruit, very dry red wine like mouthfeel really comes through. Yeast with some pepperiness and a lovely lovely oaky vanilla finish (much better finish than the bottled version). The downside with this beer is the alcohol is way to apparent. This thing smacks you in the face more than it should, you can’t drink much of this. I was really glad to try this on tap though, its much better than from the bottle (something I find very common with belgian style beers). ericandersnavy (1039), crossroads, Texas, USA Feb 16, 2009 bottle from whipin 117. poured a cloudy amber/orange with a thin white head. aroma of caramel, orange, coriander, nutty, and wood. flavor of caramel, spices, coriander, and alcohol. medium body, no carb, dry and bitter. this is a solid brew. daknole (2802), Plantation, Florida, USA Feb 15, 2009 On tap at Brother Tuckers. Pours a cloudy orangish color with small whtie head. Aroma is very sweet with a lot of caramel, orange peel, and some yeast. Flavor has a strong alcohol component, but not in a bad way so much. I get caramel, fruit, syrup and some slight wine notes...but not a whole lot. Yeast and spices are present as well. good beer. but I couldnt drink a lot of this one. roder60 (1019), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA Feb 14, 2009 Pours a hazy dark orange pink color with a thin film of white fizz and a few bubbles. Aroma is sweet oranges. Reminds me of those sugared orange slice candies I used to get in my xmas stocking plus a tad bit of yeasty doughiness. Flavor is doughy, very sweet banana-orange mix with slight tart finish. Overall, not as good as I had hoped, bit too sweet, but still have to tip the hat to dogfish for always trying new stuff. hawkshadow (102), Rural Retreat, Virginia, USA Feb 14, 2009 Obtained at the Lucky Pub in Marion, VA in a 750 bottle. Beautiful lacey head, over the top aroma.
It just shows most top raters are into quantity not quality. They always throw up a quick rating just to get up "on the board". I wish you people would slow down and enjoy what you are doing. Glouglouburp (2778), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Feb 12, 2009 In short: An original juicy beer with a truckload of fruit flavours.
How: Bottle, source and exact age unknown, probably around 1 year old
The look: Partly cloudy red body topped by a medium white head
In long: Nose is tangy with unusual fruity notes of pomegranate and such. Taste is fruity, sweet and very juicy. A big mix-bag of fruits that include bananas, grapes, lemon, orange peels, cherries and more. Notes of grenadine. I’m not familiar with Pinot Noir enough to say if it does come through. Very sweet. Finish has a light tartness/sourness with a cherry after-taste. Alcohol is very well hidden. I usually don’t care for over-the-top sweet and juicy brews but this one was rather pleasant due to its originality. Called Red and White because calling a *DANY* 10% beer Pink sounded too gay.
