MAP (1085), Lakewood, Ohio, USA Jan 24, 2009 Bottle purchased at Mustard Seed Market a few months ago, back when the weather was warm and sunny...Sigh.... those were the days. Now I get to keep myself warm by drinking and having a space heater next to my giblets. Anyhow, this pours a very attractive orange with a thin white head. Aroma is complex, filled with yeast, orange peal, a little earthy oak and just a hint of the grape juice. The flavor does not disappoint. It really comes off with a mix of the lovely Belgian yeast flavors mix with a genuine sweetness, oranges, a tad bit of spice-ginger, almost. I can’t much taste any serious wine notes, instead it tastes more mellowed by the oak aging. Somewhat fluffy in on the tongue, chewy at the end, and boy howdy does it mask the alcohol, like a good beer should. SudsMcDuff (1691), was CapeTown,SA-now Houston, Texas, USA Jan 22, 2009 ever tried replacing a cockroachs blood with root beer? .. pours a ruby red colour with fine head and outstanding lacing .. wow, not what i was expecting, but from what i have heard and from what i read from this label, This was a surprise no matter what.... lots of sufary sweetness, alcohol, grape, syrup and other sweet honey whiffs in the nose .. quite easy to drik while still enjoying the very interesting complexities ... wine drinkers really should like this .. good, very drinkable, not worth the original hype but a good offering but there is something about this that makes it sooo not worth the money!....rock and roll! ... MPosey (21), , Georgia, USA Jan 20, 2009 A wonderful colored beer. Pours with almost zero head that settles to a minimal level. A strong zesty orange attack which mellows to a slight citris, almost wine like finish. Overall a very nice beer fidel (886), Livermore, California, USA Jan 19, 2009 Pours reddish orange, citrus, orange peel, yeasty, little spice, little wood, slight spice. DaSilky1 (1933), San Diego, California, USA Jan 18, 2009 Cloudy and hazed blood orange fluid with a juicy citrus nose with chalky yeast notes and an early hint of decomposing fruit. Yeasty and citrus flavors, somewhat flat feel in the mouth and it tastes like it has a little age under its belt...but nicely fruity. JohnC (2230), Mission Viejo, California, USA Jan 18, 2009 thanks to whomever brought this to woodshop quad.
This is a very tasty beer, pinkish color slightly sweet, I enjoyed it very much. scrizzz (1252), kirkland, Washington, USA Jan 17, 2009 No shortage of orange peel on the nose, it smells fresh squeezed. Sunset colored, i got a lot of sediment in the glass, chunks galore. Fair amount of white head. Alcohol up front, bitter citrus peel and tart like a cranberry. watson1977 (250), , Pennsylvania, USA Jan 10, 2009 aroma is like that of a saison with a hint of alcohol and the pinot noir as well. color is unusual for the style due to the pinot and pours a deep amber color. flavor is very uniquie with hints of the coriander fading into a hoppy wine flavor. very fruity and floral yet balanced.
