mrant (330), New York, USA May 23, 2008 Smells strongly of orange and coriander, some wheat malt notes. Pours a very hazy burnt orange color with almost no head and very little fizz. Taste is very complex with a warm alcohol feel. Very enjoyable. sunevdj (1764), Copenhagen OE, Denmark May 20, 2008 Pours a hazy brown with a very light pink head and lacings. Quite sweet with a light sweetness and acidity. Complex aromas of raisins, dates and wood. Hints of dust, cheese, funghi. pepper, wine and coriander. Some bready notes with a light alcohol touch. Medium to full bodied. Has a slightly sticky mouthfeel. Soft carbonation. Bitter finish with lingering aromas of sugar and dust. mgoy (343), Oak Brook, Illinois, USA May 18, 2008 Dogfish Head Red and White is a hazy amber brown color with a nicely formed, but quickly disappearing head. The aroma is full of orange and corriander, similar to most Belgian Wit beers. The taste is much more complex, with orange, corriander and very interesting woddy and pinot noir notes. The finish is dry and leaves you wanting more. Hirsch13 (4), Amelia, Ohio, USA does not count May 17, 2008 WOW! This is a bit of a departure from my normal favorite stouts, but that being said this is an extremely complex beer. I live and die by good drinks, and this IS A GOOD DRINK! The aroma does not do the flavor justice. The beautiful golden pour delivers apleathora of flavor! The light palate is comlex and rife with flavor. The wine really shows through and dances on your tonge at the mid palate. The front is a very crisp smooth intake, and the back leaves just the slightest bitterness. Without the back of the palate i would have forgotten I was drinking Beer. Not in a bad way though! NO, rather this pour was a delicious rereshing drink that provoded a cornucopia of flavor. AN ABSOLUTE DELIGHT IN THE MOUTH! Drink this one if you are in the mood for a light refreshing change from the normal pour. Would pair VERY well with whitefish or pork. Gromit (460), Port Orchard, Washington, USA May 16, 2008 Very interesting... Pours a honey color with a decent head that dissipated rather quickly. Smells of coriander and the orange, quite a bit like the Belgian it’s attempting to be. Flavor is, well, like a Belgian Double, red wine, with some oak. But man, it’s very complex. Palate is thick yet crisp. Overall, I’m very impressed. Swalden28 (1439), McKinney, Texas, USA May 15, 2008 Bottle, thanks to Hopdog!!!
Poured a deep hazy amber with light beige head, nice retention. Aroma of orange and apple. Flavor is very nice and balanced, sweet, with notes of coriander and orange peel with nice alcohol spice. Palate is full bodied and smooth, low-medium carbonation. Very nice beer...... EricE (446), Fairfax, Virginia, USA May 13, 2008 On tap at Max’s. Orange brown pour with a red tint. Hazy with not much head. Lots of Belgian wittiness on the nose. Spicy and wheaty! Flavor tastes like you’re regular old wit as well, except there’s just a ton of alcohol that overpowers it. It seems the alcohol is the only part of the pinot noir that’s in the beer. Completely undrinkable.... Elizavyeta (110), Minnesota, USA May 10, 2008 Perfumey and floral with a citrusy aroma. The head is thin and wispy, revealing a lovely amber body. Overall flavor is heavy on the orange, finishing into a lilac, lavendar, and almost smokey note. Light and open on the palate, a certain sweet and, again, perfume-like flavor creeps in.
Would be a nice accompaniment for a pear tart or possibly a bar of dark chocolate.
