Commercial Description:
A big, Belgian-style Wit brewed with coriander and orange peel and fermented with Pinot Noir juice. After fermentation a fraction of the batch is aged in Oregon Pinot Noir barrels, and another fraction is aged on oak staves. The beer is blended together before packaging. This has been one of our most popular Limited Edition beers at both our Rehoboth Beach, DE brewpub and at festivals. It successfully marries the refreshing citrusy qualities of a Belgian-style white beer with the robust complexity of a bold red wine.

750ml bottle. Pours a reddish-amber color with a big white head. Aroma is light and earthy, with a mix of grains, wood, hops, cloves, and coriander. Taste is light and crisp, with a flavor of dark fruit, hops, grain, and spices giving way to a finish of warming alcohol and wood. Very wine-like when all is said and done -- light and refreshing, but full of flavor as well.

Nice accent to the amber - a little blush if you will. Aroma has some dry woody notes with cherryish overtones. Alcohol kicks things off, adding vinous and cherry nuances. Finishes with a real flat sort of woodiness and very late alcohol heat. Wish there was as much subtlety in the beer as there is in that colour.

Bottle from kryptic yesterday. Thanks Mike! I was fretting no finishing a 750mL bottle of beer, because it’s 10%, so I took it to PP bottle shop to share. Pours with a small head. Light amber color. Pronounced corriander aroma. High ABV reduces drinkability, but decent otherwise.

dark brown ruby, low head. Nicely carbonated. Flavor of malt, dark fruit, raisons, dates, alcohol on the back end. Thick and a bit syrupy. I liked this one, it was a bit unusual.

Bottle 750. Pours a deep orangish-red with a small, but lacing white head. Nose is of typical wit spices and the not so typical pinot noir. The taste is an outstanding blend of belgian yeast, corriander, bitter orange peel, and cloves all mixed with a fairly well balanced wine note that comes to the forefront. The after taste is quite earthy, but pleasent. This is the first marriage of beer and wine that I have had, but it makes me want to experiment with my home brews. A fantastic beer.

Bottle. A amber to red beer with a pink head. The aroma and taste is sweet and of yeast and fruits. Medium body with a dry light alcoholic finish.

Bottle. Pours a color very similar to a white zinfandel, with not much head to speak of. Aroma is somewhat spoiled fruit juice, metallic notes and malt. Flavor has some fruity sweetness, fair bit of malt and a little yeastiness. Interesting beer, but somewhat unbalanced.

Bomber. Redish-orange color with a good haze and a few decent sized flakes floating around inside. Fairly small white head. Huge yeasty, fruity aroma with some spices mixed in. Flavors blend oranges, yeasty bread, and spice. I really didn’t taste the wine I was expecting. Comes across as a nice Belgian style ale with a bit of fruit added. I enjoyed this, but it’s not really all that unusual considering how much it cost. So overall, good...just not worth the money.
