Commercial Description:
A big, Belgian-style Wit brewed with coriander and orange peel and fermented with Pinot Noir juice. After fermentation a fraction of the batch is aged in Oregon Pinot Noir barrels, and another fraction is aged on oak staves. The beer is blended together before packaging. This has been one of our most popular Limited Edition beers at both our Rehoboth Beach, DE brewpub and at festivals. It successfully marries the refreshing citrusy qualities of a Belgian-style white beer with the robust complexity of a bold red wine.

Bottle. Pours a very cloudy orange-amber, with a faint off-white head. The aroma is sweet, rich with dark fruit, hint of alcohol. Taste is sweet as well, some yeast, alcohol, rich dark fruits, a hint of acidity. Finish is long, dark fruits and a hint of caramelized brown sugar sweetness. Mouthfeel is full bodied, moderate carbonation.

Bottled. A hazy ddep red beer with a small amount of yeast sediment floating around under a thin beige head. The aroma is sweet with strong notes of cherries as well as lighter notes of almond. The flavor is sweet with notes of cherries, almonds, and alcohol on a light malty background, but also with hints of acidity. The mouthfeel is quite sparkling.

Blind tasting at Papsoes place, another great session, thanks Henrik! Beer #10: Pours hazy orange to amber with a lacing white head. Aroma is light fruity towards light wineous. Flavour is sweet and light yeasty with a lingering berry fruit note. Mild fruity and medium sweet finish.

# 10 Bottle. [Papsoe’s great blind tasting, thanks Henrik!] Small fizzy white head that mostly diminished. Fair display of lacework. Light cloudy amber-brown color. Aroma of spicy and almost ginger feel, some fruit and light toasted malt. Over the palate came herbal and citrus, with somewhat buttery/floral feel. Medium bodied with an average carbonation. Moderated sweet flavor with hint of acidic. Fruity and herbal sweet finish. 7-3-7-3-14 = 3.4 19-04-2008

Pours a hazy red color with a creamy white head. Great aromas of yeast and grain, with a touch of citrus and a hint of wine. Lots of flavors happening in here. Yeast, grain, citrus, banana, spice, fruit, wood, vanilla. A dry, winelike finish rounds it off nicely. DfH hit it right on the head with this beauty.
