Commercial Description:
A big, Belgian-style Wit brewed with coriander and orange peel and fermented with Pinot Noir juice. After fermentation a fraction of the batch is aged in Oregon Pinot Noir barrels, and another fraction is aged on oak staves. The beer is blended together before packaging. This has been one of our most popular Limited Edition beers at both our Rehoboth Beach, DE brewpub and at festivals. It successfully marries the refreshing citrusy qualities of a Belgian-style white beer with the robust complexity of a bold red wine.

The beer has fruit/berry aromas mixed with malt sweetness and relatively strong orange peel/coriander... The appearance is slightly cloudy and dark amber (if the entire bottle is poured). It has rather low carbonation, so the head is very thin with a thin rim if white bubbles surrounding the mouth - a bit of lacing is left behind as the level lowers. The initial flavors are of malt and grapes with some lingering bitterness from the orange peel, which is pleasant given the slight background malt sweetness. There is a slight alcohol warming, but late in the palate. It has medium-to-heavy body as that might depend on the level of citric acid present - but is a very satisfying warmth when accompanied by the grape and malt flavors that spread through the palate.

Rusty, hazy pour. Very little head. Good balance of flavors; nice mouth feel. Nice easy brew; no strong alcohol presence.

Hazy orange (bottle didnt mention being bottle conditioned...) and a think offwhite head. Classic Belgian aromas or spice and sweet malt. Pepper and wood undertones. Strong coriander in the mouth, followed by smooth and refreshing sweet malt. Nice body while still easily quaffed. Too easily... Finish is tart citrus and woody wine-like notes.

rare brew, on paper this sounds so exciting, inovative, and fantastic. however a somewhat oily texture, vinegar perfumy aroma caught me off guard. appearence is perfetion, small head nice amber/orange hue that is slightly cloudy. the flavor falls flat, vinegar, bitter, and a short finish. dont mean to be harsh, but i think i need to try again.

Looks like a wine cooler, tastes worse. The combination of tastes does not work for me.

Rusty red, beautiful and unique fiery orange-red. White head recedes to a long-lasting crown. Smells of coriander, fermented corn, and dried orange peel. Taste is sweet, tangy and dry/bitter from the coriander. Simple, but elegant, not a ton of flavors working here. Just a crisp, direct belgian beer that pleasantly, is not overspiced.

Fruity and light! Iw as expecting something offputtingly heavy and probably sour. Instead, I’ve got definite wine flavors that run over a light and sweet malt background. Slight spice and pepper to begin, and mellows into syrupy fruit juice toward the end.

Bottle shared by Crosling. Poured a copper red color with a thick beige head that left decent lacing. Aroma of spicy wheat, light citrus, and a berry fruitiness. Light fruity (berry and citrus) entry leads into a wheat middle with light spices (coriander) peaking through and a drying finish. Light and crisp on the palate, easy to drink for 10%. Different, and I like that they are trying to mix it up, but this wasn’t what I was expecting.
