broncoman (8), new monmouth, New Jersey, USA does not count Mar 17, 2008 rare brew, on paper this sounds so exciting, inovative, and fantastic. however a somewhat oily texture, vinegar perfumy aroma caught me off guard. appearence is perfetion, small head nice amber/orange hue that is slightly cloudy. the flavor falls flat, vinegar, bitter, and a short finish. dont mean to be harsh, but i think i need to try again. southamptonsam (81), New York, USA Mar 16, 2008 Looks like a wine cooler, tastes worse. The combination of tastes does not work for me. JonR888710 (999), Cochabamba, Bolivia Mar 16, 2008 Rusty red, beautiful and unique fiery orange-red. White head recedes to a long-lasting crown. Smells of coriander, fermented corn, and dried orange peel. Taste is sweet, tangy and dry/bitter from the coriander. Simple, but elegant, not a ton of flavors working here. Just a crisp, direct belgian beer that pleasantly, is not overspiced. Gurst (338), Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA Mar 16, 2008 Fruity and light! Iw as expecting something offputtingly heavy and probably sour. Instead, I’ve got definite wine flavors that run over a light and sweet malt background. Slight spice and pepper to begin, and mellows into syrupy fruit juice toward the end. BlackForestCO (819), Fort Collins, Colorado, USA Mar 14, 2008 Updated: Jan 10, 2009Bottle shared by Crosling. Poured a copper red color with a thick beige head that left decent lacing. Aroma of spicy wheat, light citrus, and a berry fruitiness. Light fruity (berry and citrus) entry leads into a wheat middle with light spices (coriander) peaking through and a drying finish. Light and crisp on the palate, easy to drink for 10%. Different, and I like that they are trying to mix it up, but this wasn’t what I was expecting. durhambeer (1186), Durham, USA Mar 14, 2008 Updated: Jan 15, 2009Lovely pour of cloudy dark orange with faint pink/red tint. Sweet at first, and the familiar orange and coriander aroma and initial taste might make you think this is just another spiced Wit... but wait! There’s so much more going on. The initial sweetness and spiciness gets pleasantly bitter and then ends creamy/floury. White pepper and vanilla somewhere in there. The grape taste comes around sometime near the end, too. Very complex beer as it plays around on one’s palate. Love the long finish. Worth it. ajm (902), Los Angeles, California, USA Mar 14, 2008 I loved this. It’s so refreshing. The grapes turn to berries turn to floury Belgian goodness. On tap at the Publick House Brookline, and why not? Tradition and innovation taste just like this. beergod (97), Houston, Texas, USA Mar 12, 2008 Smell is nice and floral. Also, you get a bright belgian yeast. Taste of bitter citrus, coriander, and grape skin with a nice citrus finish. Nice copper color. Grab it if you can find it. Another good example of what Sam and the boys are doing at DFH brewing co. Cheers!
