LearninBeer (195), Sterling Heights, Michigan, USA Jul 28, 2007 Drank on April 28, 2007. The aroma was a light to moderate yeasty, with a hint of raisin. The head was frothy, white in color, with good lacing and mostly diminishing. The body was hazy and red in color. The initial flavor ws a light to moderate sweetness and finished the same. The finish was average. The body was light to medium. The texture was creamy and a little syrupy, the carbonation was lively. drewbeerme (2223), Chicago, Illinois, USA Jul 26, 2007 750ml. dated 2/07. pours clear deep red with white head. nose is odd, almost funky but not in a good way. over ripe fruit. flavor has some over ripe fruits, cloyingly sweet, fruit juice. mouth feel is med. carb. low. i’ve never really had a beer like this but that isn’t a good thing. kujo9 (1077), North Ridgeville, Ohio, USA Jul 20, 2007 750 ML bottle: 5/27/07: Reddish orange w/ a thin but lasting pinkish beige head. I get the coriander and the grape juice, but I’m having a hard time finding the orange peel. Woody oak is light, and malt seems a bit non descript, but wheat comes through once it warms. Also some light plum fruitiness as it warms. Well balance w/wheat malt and coriander up front. Woody tannin flavor in the back ground to help dry it out a bit. Dry finish, grape flavor is light and not winey. Aftertaste is lightly woody, bitter, and dry. Lighter medium body, low CO2, well hidden alcohol, smooth then dries out in the mouth when swallowed. Interesting! I’m not quite sure what to think of this beer except maybe give it to a wine drinker and see what they think? Not bad, but not exceedingly good, definitely different. fozapd (33), Burlington, New Jersey, USA Jul 18, 2007 Red and White was a strange blend of wit and pinot noir. This beer was interesting, but it lost me with the red wine notes as I can’t stand red wine. This is a one timer for me, but I understand why others may love this blend. tsarman (794), Northern, New Jersey, USA Jul 12, 2007 Ah...A wit, now I know why this was different than I expected. I thought something along the lines of the black and blue, but this was lighter in color and different. Another great beer from one of the greatest. One downside, as always, is the price. nramsburg (200), New York, New York, USA Jul 10, 2007 Pretty awesome beer. Had this one at Tabla with a Bass plate -- went quite well. Poured into bordeaux stemware, nice deep burgundy color. I agree that it doesn’t have a lot of pinot aroma, much more beer. Medium body, but never too sweet. Finishes with some red fruits.
Impressive. Braudog (3733), Dayton, Ohio, USA Jul 8, 2007 Bottle .. poured a light and bright shiny red with a sheen and a thin but staying white foam top. Given the ingredients of this, I’m a bit taken at the aroma ... quite "beery" .. like a light golden ale. And the flavor is not what I’d expected either. Light but fairly richly flavored, this carries mostly like a strong Belgian ... lightly sugary, bit of a Koolaid fruitiness, dry grapiness, with a very dry, moisture-sucking finish. Damn good. (#3009, 7/8/2007) thenick (742), North Bellmore, New York, USA Jul 7, 2007 Pours a gorgeous red color with a lacy and quickly-dissipating head. The aroma is of red wine with a little earthy and spicy notes thrown in. The taste is malt with a grape aftertaste. Wow, I love this beer....the experiment is a success.
