dimenhetfield (157), , Florida, USA May 2, 2009 This is one interesting beer, as is the Black and Blue its counterpart. Has a great nose. Hints of orange peel and citrus, definitly on the fruity side. Hits the mounth with a nice little punch, but is not super overpowering. Skeegle (476), Maryland, USA Apr 28, 2009 Has a nice bite a sweet spiciness to it. I liked the harshness of the pinot notes. Definitely very winey. I liked the tastes of fruits in this as they were very unripened red berries. Nice one. AGAquino (73), San Juan, Puerto Rico Apr 26, 2009 On tap at Cole’s in Buffalo. Light redish ambar colour with very little head. Nice wheaty citrusy aroma. Sweet malty flavour with noticeable citrus fruits, yeast and alcohol flavour. Nice lingering aftertaste. malrubius (969), Valley Stream, New York, USA Apr 24, 2009 750 in Chimay glass. Pinkish amber with ring and a little lace and couple floaters. Boozy woody sweet fruity aroma. Toffee fruity orange cough syrupy with bitter spicy bite and woody bitter mouth-coating syrupy finish. Full body. I’m always afraid of the Dogfish crazy ingredient beers. But in the end, they always taste like beer, just not especially pleasing beer. yayforbeer (641), Orange Park, Florida, USA Apr 20, 2009 Sample at the Total Wine Beerfest, Jacksonville FL 04-18-2009. A high proof Wit with some weird flavors from the wine and oak. I didn’t like the flavor profile but others seemed to. twitcher (293), framingham, Massachusetts, USA Apr 15, 2009 bottle, sampled 4/8/07.
Pours a deep hazy pinkish amber color, small bright white foamy head. Light aromas of semi sweet tropical fruit, alcohol phenols, some notes of champagne and red wine. Flavor is suprisingly light and understated. Light fruit flavors, minimal hop bite, some mild booze notes. Carries the 11% very well- booze notes are very light. Palate is also suprisingly light and crisp for an 11% brew, light carbonation with a dry, crisp finish. Interesting, enjoyable brew. epf33 (222), Fairfax, Virginia, USA Apr 12, 2009 floral aroma, chunky appearance, coriander and orange peel notes are very strong arondee (176), Tucson, Arizona, USA Apr 11, 2009 I have to admit up-front I was a little afraid of this beer. Pinot Noir and beer? Strange idea in concept. In reality the taste is a lot like a good German hefeweizen with something extra. I can’t quite pick it out, maybe the underlying taste comes from the Pinot Noir juice. Red/orange pour with a small white head. Aroma is bananas, orange peel, and maybe some red wine. Taste is very similar to the aroma, bananas are what I taste up front, and then again orange peel and the underlying wine taste. Interesting drink and not as weird as I thought it might be.
