COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A big, Belgian-style Wit brewed with coriander and orange peel and fermented with Pinot Noir juice. After fermentation a fraction of the batch is aged in Oregon Pinot Noir barrels, and another fraction is aged on oak staves. The beer is blended together before packaging. This has been one of our most popular Limited Edition beers at both our Rehoboth Beach, DE brewpub and at festivals. It successfully marries the refreshing citrusy qualities of a Belgian-style white beer with the robust complexity of a bold red wine.

Bottle from Bruisin Ales. Pours brown with a thin khaki head. Has a bit of fruitiness on the nose with a hint of red wine. Very quaffable. It’s interesting how everything blends together. Has a bit of the barrel on the finish. Hides it’s alcohol very well. Nice!

750 ml bottle from and shared with Albatross. Pours a lightly veiled, very pale, golden amber with a resilient white head. Aroma is Belgian yeast. Flavor is very fruity, oranges, coriander, wild strawberries, wood. Finish is reminiscent of white and red wines, fieldberries, and wild yeasts. Some lingering red grapes, wild fruits and booze in there, too. Light to medium body, soft mouthfeel, average level of carbonation. Very solid, strong ale.

A - Pours a cloudy neon red orange color. Kinda looks like a tequila sunrise stirred up. S - Clove and coriander jump out right away followed by tart fruit, white grapes, and vanilla. Green apples and fresh wood come out as it warms. T - Tart acidic fruits swirl with grapes, cherries, oranges, and strawberries that are layered with some peppery spices and an oaky wheat that seems to dry out some of the sweetness. Hints of vanilla and herbal hops present some bitterness towards the end. A red wine like aftertaste. M - Full bodied with prickly carbonation. Very complex flavors. It’s a cross between a Wit and a Pinot. Lots of sweet and acidic fruits and the carbonation helps out with sweetness. The oak didn’t show up in the flavor as much as I thought it would and I’m glad. Any more oak and it would have overwhelmed the rest of the flavors. One of the most complex beers I’ve ever had. This beer will not bore you by any means. Serving type: bottle 11-29-2010

On tap at DFH Brewery. Pours a golden copper color with decent head retention. Aroma of dried grapes, apricot, and some wheat notes. Taste is sweet at first then tart in the finish. Too much wine characteristic for my liking.

Cost too much money and is too big a bottle. Not a disappointment cuz actually I wasn’t expecting that much. Bought on a whim at a bottle shop in London cuz I didn’t know what it was or if I’d see it again. Still, I’m gonna spend the next hour or so enjoying it as it’s not too bad. Sweeter than expected, a little alcoholic, some wine, quite thin.
