Commercial Description:
A big, Belgian-style Wit brewed with coriander and orange peel and fermented with Pinot Noir juice. After fermentation a fraction of the batch is aged in Oregon Pinot Noir barrels, and another fraction is aged on oak staves. The beer is blended together before packaging. This has been one of our most popular Limited Edition beers at both our Rehoboth Beach, DE brewpub and at festivals. It successfully marries the refreshing citrusy qualities of a Belgian-style white beer with the robust complexity of a bold red wine.

Bottled. A hazy ddep red beer with a small amount of yeast sediment floating around under a thin beige head. The aroma is sweet with strong notes of cherries as well as lighter notes of almond. The flavor is sweet with notes of cherries, almonds, and alcohol on a light malty background, but also with hints of acidity. The mouthfeel is quite sparkling.

(Bottle 75 cl) Courtesy of boboski. Pours a hazy, reddish amber with a slightly reddish head. Lightly tart aroma also with fruit, yeast, diacetyl and alcohol. Quite full-bodied with sweetish malt and fruity notes - somewhat berry-like. Surprisingly hoppy with a somewhat burning alcohol in the finish. Didn’t really pick up any hints of a Wit in here. 190408

Blind tasting at Papsoes place, another great session, thanks Henrik! Beer #10: Pours hazy orange to amber with a lacing white head. Aroma is light fruity towards light wineous. Flavour is sweet and light yeasty with a lingering berry fruit note. Mild fruity and medium sweet finish.

Nice accent to the amber - a little blush if you will. Aroma has some dry woody notes with cherryish overtones. Alcohol kicks things off, adding vinous and cherry nuances. Finishes with a real flat sort of woodiness and very late alcohol heat. Wish there was as much subtlety in the beer as there is in that colour.

(3/18/07, 750ml bottle, bottled 2/9/07) Medium off-white head atop lightly hazed pink-amber body. Aroma is medium sweet, orange, alcohol, light pepper, wood. Taste is medium sweet, orange, grape, some alcohol/vinous. Creamy full body. (5/3/6/4/12)

(8/20/06, growler, thanks kmweaver) White head atop cloudy apple cider body. Aroma is medium sweet, orange rind, alcohol, some vinous. Taste is medium sweet, orange, some alcohol, light clove. Full body with low carbonation. Too hot. The growler was filled the same day I tried it, so I don’t know why I think so little of this one when others enjoy it so. (6/3/4/3/9)

Hazy deep amber with medium off white head. Sweet aroma with ripe fruits, caramel and malty notes. Same goes for the flavor.
