gotohelunc (325), Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA Apr 30, 2008 Bomber. Redish-orange color with a good haze and a few decent sized flakes floating around inside. Fairly small white head. Huge yeasty, fruity aroma with some spices mixed in. Flavors blend oranges, yeasty bread, and spice. I really didn’t taste the wine I was expecting. Comes across as a nice Belgian style ale with a bit of fruit added. I enjoyed this, but it’s not really all that unusual considering how much it cost. So overall, good...just not worth the money.
AndrewKScott (246), Lemont, Illinois, USA Jul 19, 2008 Very unique ale. Poured a hazy ale with floaties. The pinot noir juice adds a slight tartness to the wit that vastly improved the flavor. The balance is just right, a fusion of wine and beer, taking a style I’m not a big fan of and making it much better. FInish is a tad cloying, though the alcohol is not detectable. dwyerpg (1990), Las Vegas, Nevada, USA Jul 18, 2008 This was an interesting beer. Not overly spiced like many Belgians but definitely had some crispness to it. The flavor was almost a little fruity it seemed. Don’t know much about wine, so couldn’t tell you whether or not this tasted like a pinot noir, but it was good enough. Boliv (137), New York, USA Jul 16, 2008 750mL bottle. Pours cloudy and amber with a small white head. Aroma of orange, grapefruit peel, coriander, yeast, and some sugar cookie. Thick, sticky, sugary sweet mouthfeel with orange and coriander that moves toward a biscuity doughiness before finishing with a tart, alcohol-laden bite. Aftertaste of dried fruit (raisins, apricots). Very interesting brew. I guess I had hoped to detect a bit more of that Pinot Noir...oh well, it’s still good. A tad expensive, but worth it nonetheless. paytoplay (27), , California, USA Jul 13, 2008 My score might be generous. It was an outstanding brew, but the Pinot Noir barrels and fruit could not be detected at all. The oil of an orange is noticed, not sour, strong belgian style but superb balance. Really well made. I could see this aging for quit some time, maybe with age the pinot aspect will outlast the other parts to this brew? It would be awesome if it does. ucusty (849), Wake Forest, North Carolina, USA Jul 8, 2008 Pour is hazy orange. Dry fruit aroma. Flavor is similar to wine with hints of orange and hops unique beer here not sure if I would buy it again considering its price tag.
