COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A modern update on a 9th century Finnish proto-beer. Brewed with rye, we caramelize the wort with white hot river rocks, then ferment it with a German Weizen yeast. In addition to juniper berries foraged directly from the Finnish country-side we added a sort of tea made with coriander, cardamom, lemon grass, Indian Black Tea, and ramps leaves. The spicing is subtle and balanced and Sahtea is a highly-quaffable, truly-unique brew with a full-mouth feel.

Tap at Churchkey. Golden color, large white head. Aroma of jasmine, dandelion. Taste has summer fruit and spice, very much a mixture of a lot of competing tastes and aroma. Interesting but jumbled.

A hazy golden ale with a thin white head. In aroma, pleasant and sweet, with juniper berries, ginger and pineapples. In mouth, a nice sweet candy sugar with fragrant spices, coriander, pineapples, nice warming alcohol, a bit lighter than expected. Bottle tasted Nov. 27, with GRM and friends, bought at Kappy’s Malden, Oct. 2009.

750 ml bottle poured a clear golden amber with a lasting off white head. Aromas of chai, light juniper and light carmel. Palate was medsium bodied and smooth. Flavors of carmel, chai and light juniper with a smooth spiced finish. Another boring overpriced beer from Dogfish Head.

Bottle. Pours hazy orange with a small, fizzy, white head, diminishing with spare lacing. Aroma is heavy malt (cookie, bread, straw), light hop (grass), average yeast (dough) with notes of chai, juniper, honey, plum, and pineapple. Full bodied, sticky texture, lively carbonation, and an astringent finish. Average duration, moderate sweetness, light acidity and bitterness.

Bottle @ Dan’s house. Holy shit, there’s a ton of shit in suspension. Yellowish orange appearance with a small white head with TONS of floaties. Herbal tea, juniper, sprucey, herbal, somewhat citrusy, fairly spicy aroma. Banana, lemon citrusy, spicy yeast, juniper, herbal tea flavor. Cool idea to use a weizen yeast. Quite interesting.

Bottle. Amber pour. Light head. Nice lacing. Aroma is spicy and full of herbal tea. I certainly get some cinammon, brown sugar, and caramel in the aroma. Flavor is full of the tea, cinammon, caramel, plums, light hops...very fun beer to drink. I like it.

Bottle… Hazy, light golden ale with a small, creamy, white head. Decent retention. The aroma is an earthy, spicy, fruity marriage of ginger root, juniper berries, black pepper, lemongrass, cardamom and fuzzy fruits. Medium-bodied with a buttery mouthfeel and modest carbonation. Spicy, fruity essences abound in the sugary flavor. Not as herbal as the aroma. Pleasantly sweet finish.

Bomber from Premier. Great spicey and fresh aroma. Looks- Unfiltered look, has a half inch of soapy head and is lacey.Carbonation bubbles. Smooth mouthfeel, very drinkable. Juniper worked, also positive that not noticeably gingery. Carmel, pecans, cola, carob.
