Quevillon (2501) - Boisbriand, Quebec, - JUN 2, 2013
Drank from a bottle at the 20th Mondial de la Bière, May 30, 2013. Orange brown, small head. Aroma of peaches, small sour fruit, a little sweet and spicy. Sour fruity taste, peach vinegar, slightly acidic, aftertaste of burnt sugar. Now this is a consumer testing only sample from DFH, so I don’t know if this will marketed, but I would not be surprised if it come out, this is crazy stuff, just like Sam!

In short: An uber-sweet, very fruity and very oaky dark ale. Meh.
How: From a bottle at Montreal Mondial 2013.
The look: Cloudy light-brown body topped by a tiny ring of foam.
In long: The intense nose is an assault of fruits and wood barrels. Taste is sickeningly sweet, a puree of sweet ripe fruits, astringent wood, tannins. A cloying attack morphing into a saliva sucking finish. The wood and tannins create an spicy-like sensation. Minimal carbonation, sticky mouthfeel. Anyway, what a great beer this was, I think I just made a sarcastic remark, maybe, I don’t know, I’m so overly sarcastic that I don’t even know if I’m kidding or not when I say I’m overly sarcastic.

UPDATED: JUL 29, 2013 Glass, 4-ounce, from a bottle, during the Mondial de la bière, savoured on May 29 2013; eye: maroon, clear, no effervescence, tiny ring of foam, slight lacing; nose: woody, light alcohol, light malt, wild yeasts, fruity; nose: woody, light alcohol, light malt, wild yeasts, fruity, tannin, woody finale with slight fruity presence, full body, below-average carbonation, lightly alcoholic texture; overall: quite fine FRANÇAIS Verre, 4 onces, d’une bouteille, bue lors du Mondial de la bière, savourée le 29 mai 2013; œil : marron, limpide, pas d’effervescence, petit anneau de mousse, très légère dentelle; nez : boisé, léger alcool, léger malt, levures sauvages, fruitée; bouche : boisé, léger alcool, léger malt, levures sauvages, fruitée, tannin, finale boisée avec très légère présence fruitée, corsée, carbonatation sous la moyenne, texture légèrement alcoolique; en résumé : bien bon

Draft at the NHC conference. Pours a deep ambery color, near orange and hazed. Offwhite head. Nose is banans and funk, subtle sweetness. Note some faint peach but the brett is a bit plasticy. On tasting, moderate bitterness and quite sweet. Peaches and pineapple. Sloppy and needs work.
