2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Pours almost a purple color, with off-white head. Grapes on the nose, with some pine and some citrus. Grapes on the palate as well. This was not one of their better offerings.

355 ml bottle, cheers Craig! Clear pinkish pour, small white bubbles. Aromas are resinous and a bit sweaty, light citrus. Taste brings the wine qualities, but in a thin way, like low alcohol wine, or ribena. Bitter at the end, with some fruit lingering. Odd.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Odd vibrant pinky with a decent wee white ringed head. Sticky fruit cider vibe to the nose. . Neatly sweet, wheat biscruit drynesss. Prickly, spicy, and oddly soapy. Tinselly carbonation and finishes reassuringly dry with a gum tickling sweetness.

3.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 9/20
An interesting beer. Pours like an amber and the head has a pink hue. The grape must really covers up the hops.

I had this at Global Brew. Pours reddish amber with a white head. Taste grape, sweet, more fruit beer than IPA. I thought this was good. I would drink this again.

4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
While I consider Sixty-One to be more of an IPA than a Fruit Beer, Dogfish Head’s creation is an odd, bold ale from a brewery that has a knack for making odd, bold ales. Luckily, Dogfish is also known for making beers that are delicious, and Sixty-One holds to tradition in that respect, too. The grape element adds a fascinating layer to this IPA. Grapes tame the hop bitterness, yet bring out the juicy character in the hops. Rather than the usual flavors of citrus, Sixty-One’s hop profile hints at apple and berry. Aside from adding a bit of tartness to the flavor, the grape must creates a mildly sour aroma and a dry mouthfeel. While some connoisseurs have suggested that Dogfish’s latest creations are more hair-brained than nuanced, Sixty-One is the one that proves them wrong. The minds at Dogfish Head still have what it takes to make new beer that is unusual, unique, and superb.
