3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
12 oz bottle. Pours clear ruby amber with a big rocky pinkish white head that retains well and laces the glass.
The aroma is grape skins and grapefruit with some earthy hops.
The flavor is sweet and bitter grapes with an earthy bitterness and some cranberry in the finish. The mouthfeel is medium bodied and a little watery.
Overall, an interesting idea, but I prefer their Aprihop.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Aroma is soured grapes, church winey. I get the under notes of hops and sweet malts. Very different for sure. Flavor brings out a dry red wine presence. Not bad, just not what I expected.

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours plum red. Aroma of hops. From the first sip I could tell this was a big beer. Hops hit you up front..very similar to the cascade hops in Sierra Nevada pale ale, but there is the slight sweetness of grapes in the aroma and flavor that make this beer interesting. By no means a fruity beer. With such big hops and full body, this brew has just enough syrah essence. Dogfish nailed it again!

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
A - pink like strawberry-cranberry juice. Light, quickly dissipating head that shares the same pinkish hue.
S- light. Not sweet but something more tart and floral, hoppy aroma.
T- tart. Balanced. Slightly dry like a white wine. Subtle sweetness at the end perfectly balanced by mild bitterness. Maybe it's the pink color, but I taste grapefruit.
M- watery, and lightly carbonated like prosecco. No long-standing aftertaste.
O- it's a well made beer. If I were to give a quick description, it would be "Beer/wine hybrid". I like this beer because it is light, but still complex. They aren't just throwing a bunch of ingredients together and selling you their science experiments. (Although dogfish is crazy and it may seem that way at times). While i enjoy a good science experiment, Dogfish gave thought and care and put out a very drinkable, tasty beer. It's art.

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle. Aroma has notes of stinky resin and citrus hops, cereal malts, bitter grape juice. Dark reddish hue with a small white head that mostly diminished and left little lace. Flavor is medium sweet and very bitter. Palate is medium bodied and watery with an average carbonation. Overall an interesting brew but not one I desire trying again.

UPDATED: FEB 18, 2014 This is a pretty rare brew. Color is actually reddish purple kind like a wine look for a beer . Taste is pretty interesting. Definitely worth trying once. I had twice. That was enough

Nice golden yellow, good head, nice lacing. nose is hops, and pine and citrus. a bit sweet on the attack, nice standard IPA notes, but a bit funky on the finish.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Definitely odd, but I liked it. Pours pink, with a fragile white head. Smells hoppy and also like red wine. Flavor is lots of hops up front, the a nice sweet red wine note. Tasty stuff.

2.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
Very red wine colored pour. Small off-white head with some lacing left behind. A rotten fruit type aroma. Taste is along the lines of the aroma with a slight wine-ness. Tastes like a wine mixed with a bad ale. Not what I was expecting. Well, I didn’t know what to expect. Strange beer that I was luckily allowed to split up the four pack.
