Sixty-one pours an interesting pink-tinged amber color with little-to-no head. Itís nice looking, for sure, and it certainly doesnít look much like a beer.

The nose is mostly grape juice, must, and a touch of citrus (grapefruit, primarily). I get hint of wood, leather, and a touch of that red wine tannic character that the syrah contributed.

The flavor profile is, well, interesting. The bitterness from the wine half and the bitterness from the beer half mix in a way that doesnít quite work for me, but that keeps me sipping. Itís dry, with predominantly a vinous quality, but what Iím missing is a fairly big component of what I expect out of an IPA: hops. The bitterness I do get is of the tannic variety, so I feel like thereís a large piece of the puzzle missing. />
Iím not sure how to score the drinkability on a half beer/half wine combination, so Iím going right down the middle. For what it is (I imagine), it works. There is a light effervescence that makes the liquid itself go down easily, but the odd combination of flavors doesnít work in terms of extended consumption.

DFH gets high marks for creativity, but I canít go too far beyond that. This is a hybrid that just doesnít work for my palate, which is a shame because I usually really enjoy DFH beers. While I appreciate Samís creativity, I think Iíd stick to adding DFH60M to actual wine instead of attempting to brew them together.

Pours burnt umber into the glass, with a wispy foam head that leaves light lacing. The nose is of definite musty grape skins and vinous notes. Flavors are interesting: pale malt, mostly dry, lots of grape/vinous "white wine/chardonnay" effervescence, very light hopping (it seems in comparison to the rest of the "X-Minute" offerings), but that could be because of the grape integration. The mouth is active with carbonation, and a bit like a dry chardonnay seltzer to finish the pull. Interesting combination, for sure, but not sure exactly how well it comes together in the "X-Minute" IPA Series of Dogfish offerings, though. My palate seems pulled in different directions. Kudos for the rate, though!

Bottle. Really nice burgundy color with reddish tinted off white head. Smells earthy and grapey. Taste is slightly bitter up front and then turns into a fruity grape taste. This IPA appears to be missing the hops.

12 oz in Seattle. Interesting beer. Pours a pinkish brown, with a pink tinged foam. Pretty apparent soft red fruit aroma and pretty much no hops. Taste is mild red wine sweet and some tannic tartness. Bittering from hops but otherwise hard to see this as anything but a very fruity ale. Very soft and oddly smooth. Interesting and well done, but not really great.

Very reddish amber color out of the bottle with a quickly disappearing white head. Fresh hoppy nose with some fruity notes. This is an oddly sweet IPA, with lots of grape and orange juice, with some grapefruit rind in the finish. Kind of thin and too sweet.

12oz bottle. Shocking beer, didnít think this would be so different (in a bad way). Golden amber pour with pinkish head. Aroma is light within son hit of hop and light malt tones, some plausible wine like tone as well. Flavor is tart old grapes, light earthy tones with no hoppiness. Changes the beer to a fruit like brew. Yuck!

Pours a clear amber. Aroma is light hop and berries. Has an initial IPA taste of hops but quickly finishes very sweet with grape, grapefruit and berries.

Bottle: Pours red-amber, clear with a tall, pink-cast head. Aroma of sweet berries. Taste is a little sour with a slight grapefruit peel bitter. A very different sort of IPA, indeed. Quite tasty.

Clear tan orange, with minimal head. Slight berry and citric nose. Sour more prominent than bitter. Quite dry. Medium body, effervescent mostly from acidity. Interesting. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours like an IPA with Syrah must in it. Pinky. On the nose it is nice peppery hops with fat fruit underneath. In the mouth it is bursting with a sweet berry fruit and a light malt body. A nice dry finish, a good hint of bitterness. This is stellar work.
