Tough one to judge. Now that I know what I am drinking, I might try another bottle to see if my opinion changes. Pours a light cranberry color with a white (with pink hue) head that quickly dissipates. Definitely more of a wine taste than I was expecting. I didnít realize it was one of their hybrids. I cannot tell if they used a 60 minute or the continuously hopped IPA, as the label hints at both. It is a light IPA though. The aftertaste is more IPA as the front taste is more grape.

Poured the color of cranberries and although clear, a little dark for itself with champagne carbonation. Bubbles constantly streaming up from the bottom. It had a ruby tinted head of otherwise white foam that was tall and billowy. It fell slowly to a nice layer, then a thick cap and collar. Shimmering wet lace. Very unique appearance. Nose is woody. Beautiful and strong with malt character. Sweet caramel and deeply full. Itís wine like and smells like grapes. Plenty of hop perfume and floral. Oak. Taste is also very unique. The malt is engaging and the grapes are vinous and deep. Tastes like some kind of berries. Maybe blackberries. The fruit is so rich, thereís oak and tea like qualities as well. The malt is steady, fat and smooth and compliments the wine like aspects more than you would think. It offers a little spice on the palate and some tartness from grapefruit. Finishes like wine. Almost dry and terribly fruity. The mouthfeel is like satin. Smooth and thick with ripe fruit. Surprisingly light.

This was a perceptibly unique beer that brought two worlds together with expert care and craftsmanship. My hat is off to Dogfish Head for this one. I really liked it. Dangerously different with captivating flavor. Impressive and innovative.

I didnít know what style this was when I ordered it. It struck me as an Imperial Amber or something similarly in tension with itself, because it seems to have aspirations but ends up missing something. Red color with clinging white head. Flavors that donít emerge in a distinctive directions. Disappointing. (on tap, Toronado, S.F.)

Pours a clear dark pink, almost red, color with a thin white head and a touch of pink. Aromas of what I would imagine a pine tree would smell like if it had grapes growing off of it. In other words, there is a fight for the predominant aroma. Flavors are very confusing. It is like drinking wine with some pine sol? Again, each flavor is competing against each other instead of complimenting the other.

19 June 2013, bottle. LIght pink, clear, steady bubbles, thick foamy head. nose is sweet, slightly "off" grape husks. thin body and mildly fizzy. floral, slightly sweet, dry bitterness, slight mustiness, faint grape/wine (dry) notes. nice enough.

Bottle. Pours a bright rose color with a small fizzy head that lingers a bit. Aroma is grape juice with some grassy and floral hops. Taste is overpowering grape juice. Not much hop taste but plenty of bitterness. Kinda tastes like a wine thatís gone bad. What a weird beer. Not a fan at all.

Copper pour with a hoppy nose with a sour note. Grape is a little over powering. Almost a beer/wine mix. Finish lingers. DFH always tries, sometimes you hit and sometimes you miss.

Pours a ruby amber with an off white head. Aroma of heavy caramel malt, hops and grape juice. Taste is malty and fruity with a slightly bitter hoppy finish. Not bad ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

bottle. Purple tinged amber with small head. Underhopped IPA with a winelike flavor. Restrained flavor, but really interesting. This actually works pretty well.

Sample at Savor Market. The beer pours a clear copper color with a medium off-white head that dissipates steadily. Stringy lacing. Aroma of grassy hops and fruit. Medium-bodied with a mildly vinous character and flavors of resiny hops, citrus and malt. The finish is hoppy up front with a fruity aftertaste. Decent overall.
