Poured purplish with pink fizzy head. Solid retention with some good lacing. Good citrusy and grape aroma. Taste like a dry chardonnay wine but with a hoppy bitterness. Very interesting. Well done Sam and the crew at DFH for this intrigueing brew. Very different.

Reddish-brown body, thin off-white head and spotty lacing. Vinous with strawberries, currants, earth, and toasted malts. Medium bodied with spritzy carbonation, mild sweetness, a tad thin in the back end, lingering finish.

Bottle from Eataly in NYC. Kinda tastes like a brown. I'm not sure where the grape mush is but it's a great beer. Enjoy on your lady's bday.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle from GBBF 2014 and drunk at home. Clear dark red beer, lasting pink tinged white lasting head. Bready cherry strawberry aroma. Itís a bit bizarre in the mouth. The syrah comes through as a strawberry blackcurranty thing. Itís certainly hoppy too. Lots of hoppy bitterness on the finish. Not entirely sure the whole thing works. The fruit is good. The hops are good. Not sure you should just jam the two things together. Yes some Rhone red wine aroma. Then this IPA red wine flavour. So you get some sweet red wine and some bitter hoppy American IPA. Not sure itís entirely harmonious or make for good bedfellows. Certainly interesting. Bit of chalk flavour that Iíve had from some red wine infused beers in the past. Itís ok, some good flavours, but overall I am not sure it works.

Bottle from Bieres Sans Frontieres stand at GBBF 2014, sampled at home.
Aroma of grape, some floral notes. Clearly vinous. Clear, cherry red with small, quickly dissipating head. Light sweet followed by light acidity and plenty of bitter hop notes. Light body, thin texture, lively carb, longish acid finish.
Strange, but quite enjoyable. Very much like a wine/beer hybrid. Probably wouldnít repeat but Iím glad I tried it, certainly more fun than Founders Rubaeus, for example.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Sampled @ ChrisO after GBBF day 2. Clear medium dark reddish color, small off-white head. Aroma is malts, some hops, lightly butter and I guess a slight hint of grapes. Taste malts, hops, lightly grapes or actually more fruit peel, quite bitter. Medium body, medium carbonation. A bit disappointing.

On draft. Reddish amber pour, almost purple color, with a fizzy off white head. Malty, grape, very mild citrus, & musty. Not that sweet, but overall this beer is not very good.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours a clear cherry/grapefruit. Little head, no lacing. Crisp citrus and lemony honey on the nose. Tastes a tad bit tart, with cherries, grapefruit, and hints of straw and lemon. A refreshing summer ale, not too sweet, not too tart or bitter. Just right.

(Bottle) - At first glance when it was pouring out of the bottle the body had an almost purple color to it. However, now that itís in the glass itís a rather orange cherry hue. Small white head on top. Aroma of a soft British hop. Flavors of gooseberries with a hop character that catches up to you on the end. Somewhat unique.
