Bottle to shaker glass. Poured a cloudy pink color. Smelled like grapefruit. Big surprise. It just tasted like a weak sparkling cider, but bitter. Iím being generous here: It was a nasty drainpour for me.

Disclaimer: This beer really wasnít what I was expecting, which certainly negatively impacted my rating. Pours pale purple (what the-) with a small, quickly vanishing head. Smells like grapes and hops, in a not-totally-unpleasant way. However, the taste was too weird for me. It tastes like a hoppy cheap wine. The mouthfeel is too thin. I expected this to be more like a regular IPA with some of kind of grape flavors. I have no idea if this is right but it seems like this is brewed with grape must in place of the malt. Should be called Fifty Nine, or Six, because regular 60 min is much much better.

Pours a reddish color with a foamy head. Notes of berries, brown sugar, and oak. Supple mouthfeel.

Pours deep, hazy purple/redish with a ring of a white head. Aroma is decent, but pretty basic, with mainly just settle hops and grape. Medium-thin mouthfeel which is quite dry. Finish length is average. Overall, an interesting idea.

12oz bottle pours a reddy brown color without much head. Mild hops and grape juice sweetness. Kind of refreshing for Summer but the hops are a little overpowering at the end.

Bottle. Pours hazy and purplish-red with a thin head. Aroma of resin, c-hops, and grapes. Taste is sweet, with resin, c-hops, grapes, and a very small hint of bitterness in the finish. Thin body. All in all pretty good, but not great.

On tap at a local pizza place. Pour is red/orange with a medium white head. Aroma and flavor of acidic grapes, light caramel, citrus, red wine, and faint fruit.

Reddish-brown body, thin off-white head and spotty lacing. Vinous with strawberries, currants, earth, and toasted malts. Medium bodied with spritzy carbonation, mild sweetness, a tad thin in the back end, lingering finish.

Bottle from Eataly in NYC. Kinda tastes like a brown. I'm not sure where the grape mush is but it's a great beer. Enjoy on your lady's bday. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle from GBBF 2014 and drunk at home. Clear dark red beer, lasting pink tinged white lasting head. Bready cherry strawberry aroma. Itís a bit bizarre in the mouth. The syrah comes through as a strawberry blackcurranty thing. Itís certainly hoppy too. Lots of hoppy bitterness on the finish. Not entirely sure the whole thing works. The fruit is good. The hops are good. Not sure you should just jam the two things together. Yes some Rhone red wine aroma. Then this IPA red wine flavour. So you get some sweet red wine and some bitter hoppy American IPA. Not sure itís entirely harmonious or make for good bedfellows. Certainly interesting. Bit of chalk flavour that Iíve had from some red wine infused beers in the past. Itís ok, some good flavours, but overall I am not sure it works.

UPDATED: AUG 25, 2014 Bottle from Bieres Sans Frontieres stand at GBBF 2014, sampled at home.Aroma of grape, some floral notes. Clearly vinous. Clear, cherry red with small, quickly dissipating head. Light sweet followed by light acidity and plenty of bitter hop notes. Light body, thin texture, lively carb, longish acid finish.Strange, but quite enjoyable. Very much like a wine/beer hybrid. Probably wouldn?t repeat but I?m glad I tried it, certainly more fun than Founders Rubaeus, for example.
