3.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottled from cask and sent from DFH, 12/03 Maybe I should have tried this sooner; letís see: Pours with a very thin head, and there seems to be a very small bit yeast dregs left in the bottle. Nice color, of a bright copper penny, a little hazy. Smell is rather subdued, a bit like a port wine. Taste is a pleasant blend of caramel malts and raisiny sweetness. And Iíd be remiss in not mentioning a nice alcohol buzz. Hop bitterness really only appears as an aftertaste. A pretty good American stab at a Belgian.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 1/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Growler courtesy of mday. Served in a tulip.
Pours a moderate brownish color with a white head that sticks around for a bit with a decent amount of retention. The nose brings forward a moderate amount of sweetness and yeasty esters as well as a light spiciness throughout. The flavor is moderately sweet without too much going on. Thereís a bit of yeast and fruit, but nothing standing out too much on its own. The mouthfeel is decent enough with moderate carbonation and a good body. Drinkability is pretty decent but thereís nothing really pulling me back for more.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: JAN 1, 2011 12 oz draft at dogfish head served in a snifter; retention is not great on this one, but it leaves an attractive show of lacing. Pour is murky gold with two fingers of thick White head. Nose is cantaloupe, pears, Belgian yeast, and various spices. Taste is on par, but the fruit is actually a dominant factor. This is a much appreciated turn, especially outside of the world of lambics. Although not my style of choice, this is one tasty brew!

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
On tap at the Gaithersburg location on 1/19/07: Pours a transparent copper orange with a wispy-lacing white head. Aroma of lightly sweet crystal malt along with a hint of piny hops. Body starts fairly full and malty with a good flavor hop balance and earthy caramel notes. A good brew, but I didnít get much Belgian ale character out of it.

1.9 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20
Wow. What a huge dissapointment. I expect so much more from DFH and this was just so pedestrian, that it was embarassing, No identifying characterstics what so ever from this one.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours orange fading to tan with a decent sized head of fairly large bubbles. Very mellow aroma, but interesting cheese notes, some grass, and dark fruits. Taste of light O-fest style malts, white grapes and a light sugar sweetness. Mellow flavor. Thereís a light spicy finish where the yeast makes itself known (without overdoing it), and a surprising earthy hop bitterness. Fairly light body and a medium to high carbonation. This is a pretty mellow beer, but it certainly doesnít offend and itís probably intended to be drank fast and in large quantities.

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
DFH tasting in Houston at Flying Saucer with KAggie97. Looks more like a filter Belgian Ale. Light cherry nose. Taste is sweetness that reminds me of Muscat Canelli , but not that viscous. Honey notes as well. Not sure what this beer is, but itís not a Belgian.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Dogfish Head tasting, Flying Saucer, Houston. Pours thin for a Belgian, with an aroma of sweet berry and muscat wine. Dull grapefruit and orange flavors. Iím having trouble identifying this beer as a "Belgian;" it seems to have more in common with an IPA. Average mouthfeel. This is about as Belgian as a Guinness.

Draft. Caramel in color. Clear with limited carbonation. Canít detect much on aroma. Lightly hoppy. Even body though somewhat thin. Nothing to recommend this.
