An unfiltered, 100% bottle-conditioned, super-pungent imperial I.P.A. clocking in at 9% ABV and dry-hopped with Palisade, Amarillo, Simcoe, Cascade, CTZ, and Willamette hops. The beer will come out in June of 2009 in a handful of eastern seaboard states. It will only be packaged in 750ml champagne bottles. Seek it out... and hoard it from the non-believers.

Poured 22 oz into an imperial glass. Cloudy and amber in color with a nice white creamy head. Strong hops that are presented in its flowery aroma and flavor, very smooth.

Amber liquid, with even after a rather rigorous pour, only a small, but fairly stable off-white head. Citrus and pine dominate the nose, but with a little more proboscis time, some really nice toasted and caramel malt aromas as well. Thick, nearly chewy in feel, almost to the point of being coating and cloying, Big flavors from a sturdy brew. Little doubt that this would survive nearly any journey. On the verge of being hot, but enough malt to sail past that hot spot. Citrus and pine flavors abound. Quite sweet from the malt to balance. While I think most IPAs and even IIPAs are better fresh, I think this one will hold its own, even with some significant stowage. Just not sure If I will want to put one of these away. I keep waiting for some haze or clouds. A very clean and clear brew for a bottle conditioned brew. Actually on the very last pour a few flakes of fish food. So little change in character with that bit of yeast. 2/10

Draft - Brew pub exclusive. A rerelease from years ago. I have a vintage bottle of this but have yet to open it. When I heard they where going to release it again I was excited. An unfiltered beer. Cloudy brown color. Hop forward flavor. Not very dry. Very similar to the 90 minute but a little more refined.

25.4 oz bottle served in pint glass. Further aged under refrigeration for about 1 year. [from notes] A - pours a clear golden amber with relatively dark tan head. Only the slightest haziness after adding the sediment at the bottom of the bottle. T - complex and hoppy. I think the use of 6 hops allows for a nice complex, bold and bitter flavor. A generous use of malt counters much of the bitterness and, with the bottle conditioning, renders this rather smooth. Good flavor dynamics over a longish period, with an fine hoppy. but not very bitter, aftertaste. M - Medium with good carbonation. O: worth seeking out. Higher ABV not obvious in taste or smell.

Old old rating. Remember it being a real sweet version of 90 minute. Amber colored. Big citrus and sweet malts. Maybe a bit stale even when I drank more at its prime.

a dry hopped bottle conditioned 90 minute ipa...some of the brandied fruitcake sweetness in 90 minute has been tempered and replaced with a little more pungent hops, which i liked. smooth feel that fits the flavor profile from the bottle conditioning. nice beer - liked it better than Poppaskull and Raison D’Extra head to head, and probably better than 60 or 90 minute...just shy of the Burton Baton though :)"

The body has a slightly hazy, deep amber color with a tall "egg shell" white head on top. My second glass has some small yeast floaters hanging in suspension within the hazy body. The head has good retention as it hangs on till the end, slowly fading to a much smaller covering as I drink. It is very thick, foamy and clings to the glass, leaving cool lace rings on the glass. There is a solid hop presence in the aroma with notes of lemon oil and grapefruit backed up by sweet sugary cereal maltiness. This one is big and full bodied loads of hop complexity playing with an equally big sweet maltiness. From the hops I get citrusy notes of lemon, grapefruit and orange marmalade as well as mellow pine notes. From the malt I get notes of sweet cereal and bready grain. I am also picking up light hints of tart cherries and nutty almond like notes. It finishes with some drying yeast notes and solid hop bitterness. The palate has a smooth fine carbonation and texture.

Rated on 6-04-2010 (25.4 oz. bottle at 800 Degrees Pizza in Fort Wayne, IN). This beer forms a small ivory head with a short retention, transparent golden body, visible carbonation, floaties, and spotty amounts of lacing. The aroma s light malt and citrus hops. The taste is refreshing, moderately malty, bitter, and citrus hops. The palate is mildly tingly and this beer is full bodied. Overall, this beer is not aggressively hoppy tasting given this beer’s style. It has a very nice hoppy flavor with a moderate lingering hoppy aftertaste. This beer is worth trying and a beer I would drink again.

Vintage 2011, 1C So this is 90 minute IPA, but naturally bottle conditioned. Huh, let’s see. A: Pours a copper colored ale with excellent clarity. A two finger top of creamy, fine foam falls slowly to a thick quilt of the same. Sheeted lacing. S: Spicy, apple skins, coppers, grapefruit. Not nearly as malty as the SRM would indicate to me. Hints of almost something similar to a hot dog. T: Very sweet. Wowza. Otherwise, bits of caramel, oats, coffee(?), bits of cardboard. M: Creamy mouthfeel - high in body for the style and low in fine and ticklish carbonation. Slick and yet dry finish. O: As an IPA, not so much. As an imperial Amber, great. T: Serving type: bottle 06-09-2011

Bottle shared thanks to scotchzi! Pours a translucent golden brown with thin bubbly off-white head. Aroma is old IPA, sweet malt and booze, hint of grainy bread. Taste is almost all grain, kind of like a fresh unhopped beer, interesting, no sweetness or booze. Old and I know it, but not bad.

FROM NOTES: August 11, ’12. Poured from a 750ml bottle into a Spiegelau glass. A: Sweet caramel notes with biscuit malt and oak aromas. Tropical fruit hop notes with a faint alcohol aroma. A: Pours a cloudy copper-orange with a finger of slightly off-white head that slowly fades leaving behind some nice lace. Some fruity notes fade in and out. T: Very malt heavy for an IPA, maybe even overwhelming. The complexity of the hop profile gets lost in the beer’s taste as the malts dominate. P: Medium to full bodied with a decent amount of carbonation. It’s very smooth with a warming alcohol bite on the finish. O: In the end the aroma is the best aspect of this beer. It’s a major booze bomb, perhaps a few years of aging will smooth this out a bit. If only I can leave it alone for a few years..... /wink
