COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Working with our archeologist friend Dr. Pat McGovern, this beer was created to incorporate the ancient ingredients and techniques described in Egyptian hieroglyphics. It was brewed to 11.4Plato with Emmer (an ancient form of wheat) and loaves of hearth baked bread and flavored with dom-palm fruit, chamomile, and zatar. Fermentation was carried out by a native Egyptian saccharomyces yeast strain captured by Sam and Floris during a recent trip to Egypt. ABV went from 5 to 4.5%.

750mL thanks to Travlr. Pours tepid light orange to gold with a weaker, white head. Nose is very weird: odd honey, lemon detergent, lime, old grape jelly. Headache inducing. Big sugar. Taste is super weird. Oatmeal with butter and pumpkin pie. Big pumpkin pie really. Weaker palate considering the dessert flavor profile. In a way, I would not be surprised if someone told me this was a pumpkin beer. Probably the doum fruit used is quite squashy and the zaatar spice medley coupled with that produces a pumpkin pie profile. Mild huskiness and diacetyl create a heavier dessert profile. Palate is a bit too suddy and weak to be taken seriously as a dessert beer. Not that bad.

Aroma- vegetable soup, fresh bread, hay Appearance- straw yellow, big carbonation, minimal head Taste- vegetables, wheat, strawberries, cereal Palate- crisp but thin, mostly watery Overall- Not understanding the recent path that DFH is taking with this and Faithfull. This is a macro lager with some interesting qualities that has been stamped with the craft beer logo. Hope they break out of this funk soon.

Bottle. Pours a clear gold with a white head that dissipates quickly to the edges. Aroma has lots of earthy grains with some toast and a good amount cereal. Flavor is full of nuttiness with a bit of cereal and earthy grains.

tepid tan, transparent. Odd spice: wood, stale, grassy. Flavor is flat, spice and sugar, bit of wood. Thin, oppressive body.

750mL bottle. A clear amber pour with a smallish beige head. A fresh & crisp aroma of peaches, wheat, light cream, caramel, and lemons. Goes down thin and crisp. Sweet and fruity upfront taste-wise with some peaches and apricots. A little crackery and lightly bready in the middle. A yeasty tanginess at the end with some lemon. Herbal tea qualities here and there. A unique wheaty/graininess throughout. Light, crisp, and refreshing.

Aroma of bread, chamomile, and slight yeast. Pours pilsner blonde with a sizable head. Taste is sweet and herbal. Nice yeasty notes in there. Drinkable but weird.

1st Batch, Vintage 2011. 750mL capped bottle. Clear, pour, bright orange color, thin white head. Aroma of a can of tuna (in spring water, of course). Some scent of herbal tea (chamomile), and an off-wheat grainy smell. Tastes of stale chamomile flowers, some of the odd-wheat grain that is in the nose. Then it all finishes up with a odd spiciness on the palate. Overly sessionable body, very light, low ABV; makes this welcoming. Love the herbal tea character with the stale bread notes. Love it. Some of the other ratings I’ve read on this beer have been against the beer. Overall, this is one of the best "unique" off-center ingredient beers from DFH that I’ve truly enjoyed.
This beer was my way of celebrating Epiphany Day.
