Working with our archeologist friend Dr. Pat McGovern, this beer was created to incorporate the ancient ingredients and techniques described in Egyptian hieroglyphics. It was brewed to 11.4Plato with Emmer (an ancient form of wheat) and loaves of hearth baked bread and flavored with dom-palm fruit, chamomile, and zatar. Fermentation was carried out by a native Egyptian saccharomyces yeast strain captured by Sam and Floris during a recent trip to Egypt. ABV went from 5 to 4.5%.

Bomber. Pours clearish bubbly gold, thin white head. Aroma is really bizarre: musty socks and vegetable decay. Flavor is pretzels: malty and wheaty. If you can get past the smell, this beer is refreshing.

I love Dogfish Head, and this beer is truly unique. I struggle to describe this radically different beer, but there is a sweetness to this that is really wonderful.

750ml bottle into a shaker glass; served cool. Aroma: There’s an odd, almost coffee aroma up front. It’s either coffee or well-toasted bread. Appearance: Bright gold/copper body. Quickly dissipating head. Taste: Pretty malty at first. But there is a splendid herbal flavor that is reminiscent of oregano and balsamic vinaigrette. Pretty tasty!! Palate: Medium body; with a moderate-long herbal finish. Overall: Excellent stuff! I just can’t get enough of that herbal taste. I will definitely be having this pleanty more times in the future. Outstanding!

Bottle to pint glass Aroma of wheat, toast, lemon, flowers, and sweat. Translucent amber with loads of dark sediment and a somewhat creamy and bubbly white head with a dark brown patch. The taste is a touch sour with grain and cereal and nutmeg and horse blanket. I would have preferred more body as this is quite thin and light.

Pours a clear golden color with one finger head that leaves moderate lacing. Aroma of toasted malt, yeast, pepper, spice, chamomile. Hint of herbal hop with moderate carbonation, medium to full body. Not sweet, mildly bitter, a mildly sour perhaps a little salty. Medium finish. This is enjoyable and drinkable.
