3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
750ml bottle, big thanks to Jay A. for this one! Wow, didn’t even know this existed. Amber orange yellow color. Thin off-white ring of head. Dots and ropes of lace. Some belgian candy sugar, nice orange citrus, light toffee, citrus zest. Some baked apple, light spice aromas. Bigger body. Smooth, soft, lighter carbonation. More dry finish. Very nice citrusy zesty belgian strong. Good, nice light amount of spice, and nice ginger type aromas. Glad for the chance to have tried this one. Very interesting.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pour out of 750 mL bottle, golden hazy pour with off white head, aroma brought notes of lots of cardamom, hints of white fruits, lots of biscuit, bread and honey-like sugars, hints of vanilla in there as well, some sugary brandy as well, the age has treated this well. Taste is a sweet mix of oak, vanilla, and brandy into slight cardamom, hints of earth, biscuit, slight grassy note into some white fruits, finishing fairly sweet.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
750ml bottle via trade. Poured a hazy orange body with a smaller foamy white head. Aroma is Belgian yeast, honey sweetness, cardamom and a super light touch of vanilla. Medium bodied with average carbonation and an average duration on the aftertaste. Flavor of cardamom, Belgian yeast, honey, sugar, flowers and dry toast. Thought this was an American Strong Ale for some reason until my first sniff, and that thought quickly left my mind.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle during Late Nights @ RBWG, Asheville. Deep amber pour with a small head. Very gunky, yeasty nose. Some lemon and apricot. Unidentified spices. Similar flavors. A bit of sludgy tired lemon and harvest fruits. Some caramel and wood. Full body, oily. Meh.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
750 ml bottle shared at Dave’s tasting. Pours a hazy golden orange with a linen white head. Pleasant aroma of Belgian yeast and honey. I’m not really picking up the cardamom in the nose. The flavor is Belgian yeast with a bit of honey, malt, and some cardamom. Mild bitterness at the finish. Medium bodied.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Poppaskull 750 ml bottle served in a Green Man snifter after the RNWG-2014
Hazy golden color with an irregular appearance. The head was thin and short-lived.
Aroma: heavy cardamon; vague additional spicing; moderate funk; bright fruitiness.
O: Over the top. Two great breweries join forces to produced a weak "by committee" product?

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
a nice beer from DFH and FFF. the alcohol is well hidden at 9.5%, the body tingly and medium to full. this golden ale smells of sweet malt, lots of spice (cardamom, which is fairly aggressive) and a hint of brandy and oak. the barreled portion comes through a little in the flavor, but this is a spiced ale first. Given high expectations for these two brewers, this was not a standout, but a pretty nice brew."
