2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
750ml bottle pours a lightly hazy, bright yellow with a cloudy, white head. Nose is minty, herbal, yeast, cloves. Flavor has tons of spice, cardamom, herbs, apples, candy, yeast. Full bodied, sweet finish. There is a really strong herbaceousness here. Not a whole lot of barrel.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
On tap at Revolution in Chicago. Pours a clear, golden orange colored body with a finger-width, dense and creamy, white head that dissipates slowly and leaves a nice lacing. Aroma is sweet and fruity with a nice mellow spicing. Caramel, some Belgian yeast with a few esters, and a light oak. Flavor is similar. Lots of cardamon, a sweeter caramel, Belgian yeast, some herbs, mixed fruit, and a dry wood. Finishes dry with a nice, spicy, light herbal and woody bitterness with just a bit of a caramel sweetness. Fairly lengthy aftertaste following a light-medium, smooth body and soft, moderate carbonation. Overall, a nice beer. The cardamon plays a big role with some nice, soft caramels and a pleasant Belgian yeast. Fairly straightforward, but well balanced and easy drinking.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
tap at the Dash In - Pours golden-copper with a lingering white head. It smells of fruity malt, spicy yeast, and alcohol. The sweet, fruit accent flavor has an obvious alcohol presence. It also in some way reminded me of a sweet quadrupel like Avery’s the Reverend. This brew takes a little getting used to but is good. I wouldn’t call it great though, which is what I expected from the 3 Floyd’s, DFH collaboration.

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Sweet, doughy malt nose with some phenolic yeast notes- pepper, clove and golden fruit. Taste is sweet, lightly bitter, with lots of pepper, apricots, golden raisins and alcohol. Sweet and boozy, exactly what I’d expect from these brewers.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
UPDATED: JAN 4, 2011 Bottle. Style says Belgian strong ale, but I would say this is more of a spice beer. Pours a nice rich golden with froathy head. Aroma is sweet malts with fall spices, oak, ginger, and dark fruit. Palate is carbonated, but easy drinking. Taste brings out the brandy, but also the spiceiness. I am impressed.

Pours a very cloudy deep golden color. Aroma is of spices, coriander, banana, yeast, lemon peel, and chili’s. Flavor is of Belgium malts, coriander, yeast, lemon, spices, and wood chips. Leaves a very spiced finish. Definitely has a Belgium feel to it.

750 mL bottle from the Cork and Bottle in Covington, KY. The pour was surprisingly clear, light golden with wonderful aromas of fruit, spice and grass. The flavors were fruit, herbs, yeast, spice and funk. A very unique beer. Different and tasty.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: JAN 1, 2011 5 oz pour from a flight. Pour is clear gold with just a little white head. Nose is apples, brandy, yeast, and cloves. Taste is right on, but the brandy barrel gives this usually mediocre style, in my opinion of course, a breath of fresh air! The body of this is very light and would make a nice high ABV summer brew.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
What the hell? This smells totally like Iranian cardamom tea. Too bad it tastes so hoppy that it makes me frown and grimace and punch a baby. Way too hoppy.
