COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Tweason’ale is a beer we brewed on the cusp of summer. It is a gluten-free sorghum based beer brewed with fresh strawberries from our friends at Fifer Orchards near Dover, Delaware. For the sorghum, we sourced a dark, sweet, syrup with notes of molasses and pit-fruit. We also used a a dark buckwheat honey with a beautiful hay-like, earthy-malty thing that we felt added the final touch to this Tweason’ale recipe.

No much aroma, just light sweetness. Nice golden color, probably best attribute is the inviting refreshing look. Unfortunately taste has none of the promise of the label. Light sweetness but nothing identifiable. Bubbly and light sweet finish. Not too interesting. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

12 ounce bottle - $2.99 at Total Wine & More in Kennesaw, Georgia. Bottled On: 01/30/12.

Appearance: Pours a clear, light amber body full of bubbles, bubbles, bubbles, like a Sprite.

Smell: Has that same kooky, chemically sorghum smell that keeps me generally steering well clear of the gluten-free drinks. A few choice drops of molasses with a slender trace of tartish strawberries.

Taste: Repellent sorghum taste overshadows the strawberry and faint though distinct molasses accent. Low sweetness. Nil hop character or bitterness. Pop of acidity. Some agreeable hints of strawberry try to balance out the grim flavor of sorghum, bless’m for that. Club soda-like on the finish.

Mouthfeel: Light-bodied. Medium-plus carbonation.

Overall: The more gluten-free beers I try, the more deeply I sympathize with the plight of those with Celiac disease.

Poured into a lager glass from a 12 ounce bottle dated 1-30-2012.

A: Crystal clear amber with a foamy white head that reminds me of a bubble bath, which is (unsurprisingly) not appealing in a beer.

S: A really odd artificial smelling sweetness of syrup with light strawberry notes. It’s really off-putting.

T: This reminds me of a wine cooler with aspartame in it. The artificial tasting syrup flavor leads to a strawberry flavor and a fake sugar finish. I just do not enjoy this, it tastes off.

M: Light and crisp on the tongue with lively carbonation.

O: Save this for the people that need a gluten free beer, this is something I am not enjoying.

330ml bottle. Bottled on 1/30/12. It pours a nice gold with a slight red hue. The head quickly fizzes away with no lacing. The smell is rampant with sorghum. The strawberry is a nice unique touch though, if you sniff it for awhile it starts to dominate. The flavor is slightly tart which is surprising. The sorghum just ruins it though. I think brewers should just stop with the sorghum it is a failed experiment. It tastes kind of like cough medicine. Fails in the flavor.

Tastes like strawberry seltzer. Now body at all, and not much flavor. Not even sure it’s really 6% it’s so light. I know that it probably works for the gluten free crowd, but I love me some gluten! Not much like beer to me.

Head disappears pretty much immediately. Orangy-golden body. Large carbonation. Crystal clear. Nice honey aroma. Body consistency of water. Bit of strawberry flavoring, morphing into honey. If it had more body, and even a touch of head, it wouldn’t be half bad. Glad I only bought a single to try, instead of a full 4-pack. At least the palate is clean.
