COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Tweason’ale is a beer we brewed on the cusp of summer. It is a gluten-free sorghum based beer brewed with fresh strawberries from our friends at Fifer Orchards near Dover, Delaware. For the sorghum, we sourced a dark, sweet, syrup with notes of molasses and pit-fruit. We also used a a dark buckwheat honey with a beautiful hay-like, earthy-malty thing that we felt added the final touch to this Tweason’ale recipe.

12 ounce bottle into signature pint glass, bottled on 4/4/2012. Pours lightly hazy golden amber color with a 1-2 finger foamy white head with poor retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Minimal spotty lacing clings to the glass. Aromas of huge honey, tart strawberry, apple cider, pear, light caramel, light bread, and a touch of raspberry. Very nice aromas with good strength and balance. Taste of honey, strawberry, pear, apple cider, wheat, floral, herbal, earth, and light tart raspberry. Zero bitterness; with lingering notes of honey, strawberry, pear, apple, raspberry, and herbal on the finish for a short bit. Good flavor balance, with a fair amount of flavors and decent complexity; quite dry on the finish with zero cloying sweetness. Medium carbonation and body; with a lightly syrupy and crisp mouthfeel that is good. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a slight warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is a pretty nice gluten free sorghum beer. A fair amount of nice flavors with decent balance; and extremely smooth to drink. This was pretty enjoyable stuff.

Pours a golden color. Aroma is fruity. Taste is sour and thin. No real strawberry flavor comes out.

Rated on 02-28-2013 on tap at DFH Brewpub, Redobeth Beach, DE. This beer has an off-white head with a short retention, golden transparent body, no visible carbonation observed, and spotty amounts of lacing. The aroma is malt, honey and strawberries. The flavor is sweet, honey, berries, and a very dry finish. The mouthfeel is smooth and this beer is medium bodied. Overall, this beer is quaffable, but I do not enjoy this beer’s flavor. It just is not my thing.

This beer was a bit strange. Kind of a sour aroma. The flavor was more wine-like I thought. Carbonated. A sour body and bitter finish.

(bottle - 12 oz) Gold pour with a fizzy white head. Awful sour and rancid fruit smell with stale grass and molasses. Flavor is equally as bad. Sour and tangy strawberry-ish flavor with a dry and overly bitter finish.

Transfer from BA review from 6-26-12 - Served in a 10 oz chalice glass Appearance – The beer was served a lighter amber color with hints of orange and a just off white head. The head faded quite fast to give only a light amount of lacing. Smell – The aroma was sweet and fruity. The fruity aromas were of strawberry but had very light citrus aromas as well. Mixed with the fruit was a lighter sugary aroma and some sorghum bready aromas as well. Taste – The taste starts out quite sweet with strong notes of some more sorghum bread and lots of strawberry. As the taste advanced more the strawberry faded lightly in the middle but was made up with by some more cane sugar like tastes. The strawberry then comes back more with hints of other more sour fruit flavors which when mixed with the sorghum flavor leave a rather interesting somewhat sour flavor on the tongue. Mouthfeel –The body is on the average side with the carbonation level following suit. Fairly fitting for te fruit flavors and light sourness. Overall – Really not a bad brew. Its fruit flavor is pretty good and hides some of the slightly off sorghum flavors. An interesting brew and actually one I would have on greater occasion.

Bottle. Cloudy, yellow-brown. Minimal white head. Aroma has ripe fruit, berry and yeast. Taste has a bit fermented strawberry, yeast, citrus and lime. No aftertaste, mouthfeel is a bit watery. Basically a fermented fruit juice.

Bottle at the mondiale 2014. Hazy redish pink pour, with zero head. Aroma of wet paper, and berries. I cant say its exactly strawberry, its just a random sweet berry aroma. The body is very thin, and the carb is next to flat. The finish has an odd tangy, wet paper sweet berry thing going on. Its really odd and unpleasant.
