COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Tweason’ale is a beer we brewed on the cusp of summer. It is a gluten-free sorghum based beer brewed with fresh strawberries from our friends at Fifer Orchards near Dover, Delaware. For the sorghum, we sourced a dark, sweet, syrup with notes of molasses and pit-fruit. We also used a a dark buckwheat honey with a beautiful hay-like, earthy-malty thing that we felt added the final touch to this Tweason’ale recipe.

Bottle at Papsø. Hazy orange coloured with a small white head. Sweet and fruity aroma of caramel and honey. Sweet and fruity flavour of caramel and honey. Sweet finish.

Bottled. Sticky yellow pour. Honey, strawberry but really kind of nasty. Avoid even if you’re celiac.

This brew is off-centered for sure. Odd combination of flavored that kinda works. I don’t know what pit fruit is, but strawberry and honey are present. I’d have liked for the strawberry to taste a little more natural (it smells good) but in the aftertaste the combo of berry, honey, and sorgum is a bit strange. Overall, one of DFHs weaker offerings."

Pours clear gold with small white head. Aroma is sweet strawberry’s. Very light watery body with some rather unpleasant bitterness on the back end. The strawberrys taste is very light. On the malt side the sorghum doesnt give the beer much of a body and it has a light sweetness to it. Not very good.

Bottle from Trader Joe’s. Pours clear pinkish-amber-golden with no head. Smells of lager, strawberry, grass, and bubble gum. Tastes of glue, strawberry, and honey. Glue lingers. Blah.

Clear orange pour with a 1 finger, creamy to soapy bright white head. Aroma is sorghum, strawberries, toasted earthy grain, and fruity honey. Flavor is sorghum, weak strawberry, buckwheat earthiness and some odd acidity that I can’t really pin down. Light body, light carbonation and dry, to slightly oily feel throughout. Not very good, but as far as gluten free beers go this is OK. As it warms it get oddly boozy for 6%ABV.

Bottle. Golden/copper with thin off white head. Aroma of honey, strawberry, and light syrupy notes (sorghum?). Medium/light body, medium sweetness and tartness upfront, some bitterness, and a strawberry notes with a syrupy finish. One of the better gluten free beers I’ve had.

Bottle at home. Medium high creamy and lasting off-white head. Clear amber body. Mild malty strawberry buckweet aroma with an acidic honey note. Bitter sweet flavor, more sweet than bitter though, fruity lemon, litte hops bitterness, low carbonation, long sweet finish. Interesting.

12 oz bottle from Uptown Market in Beaverton, OR. Aroma is obviously very fruity, but also fairly tart. Mouthfeel is crisp, sharp, and bubbly. Taste is tart and sweet, with a sour finish. Not undrinkable, but not a favorite either.

Bought at Uptown Market. Great summer beer! Yes, it is light, fruity, maybe a little gimmicky. Let’s face it, when it is really hot outside you can drink a s-load of Coors Light or something like this that actually tastes good! Nice strawberry flavor, light in the mouth and easy going down! A sure win for a hot day.

Poured from bottle in a red tinted amber colour with decent sized head that dissipated rather quickly. An earthy of aroma of honey and strawberries confuses the senses as an equally earthy malt honey flavor is introduced. Has a sour and dry after taste. Definitely an acquired taste.
