COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Dogfish Head Verdi Verdi Good was inspred by beers being produced in Southeast Asia, namely Myanmar (formerly Burma) and Thailand. The main type of beer made in that area of the world is akin to the Dortmunder/Export type lagers of Germany. Both Myanmar and Thailand have breweries producing a beer which is their regular production lager with spirulina added. Hence, Verdi Verdi Good was born. Verdi Verdi Good holds true to the Dortmunder style and gains a delightful green color and a subtle organic aroma from the addition of spirulina. Spirulina is a blue green algae prized for its high nutritional protein content.

Available 2/21/06 at Dogfish Head Brewings & Eats in Rehoboth Beach, DE, and soon-thereafter at Dogfish Head Alehouse in Gaithersburg, MD and other great draft-beer bars! 5.5% abv 25 IBU

Notes. Tap at Colins Bar (RIP). The color is just outragous. No joke bright almost highlighter green. Nice rich body. Arom is very green, grassy, earthy. Taste has an upfront bitterness and fresh cut grass. Liek a wheatgrass beer. A little hard to drink full pints of but definitely interesting.

Draught at the Blue Dog in Lansdale. Clear, ultra-green body with a filmy greenish-white head. The appearance is an appealing novelty. Aroma has an odd cigar quality plus citrus and pineapple. Some tart Kolsch-like qualities with lemon notes. Juicy palate. Very distinct and novel character and a decent, refreshing lawnmower beer.

Absolutely brilliant! I had this on draught at the LI Beer Fest friday, Even before drinking you can smell the wonderful aroma of the spirulina! I loved this, excellent translucent green colour with a nice bright white head!

2006 World Beer Festival in Raleigh, NC. Consecutive 4 oz pours. It sure is green. Small off white head. I can’t say that it looked appetizing but I gotta give them credit for creativity. Decent crisp dortmunder living somewhere under an unpleasant earthy flavor from the algae. Not particularly great but interesting enough to justify trying.

Draft @ Collins Bar. Green in color with a little head. Very green. Spirullina. Grassy and citrusy aroma. Malty flavor. No spirulina character. I didn’t even notice it was there. Medium bodied. Ok.

Draft @ Collins Bar. Yeah it’s green and if I didnt know it had spirulina, I never would have picked out the aroma. Other than the creaminess that I can only assume is caused by the seaweed, there isn’t anything to like or dislike about this beer. Yeah it’s creepy to drink a bright green beer but the flavors aren’t really inspiring. A nice, bold move by DFH and extra points to this rating just for that.

Poured Green as expected. Light grass and carmel on the nose. Flavor reminded me a bit of a light earthy APA. Surprisingly easy to drink.

On tap at DFH AleHouse Gaithersburg. Pours an ultra-weird, but very interesting clear green with a light blue head (!) Aroma of grain and a slight touch of the sea. Flavor all-around is subtle with notes of grain, caramel, grass and a faint seaweed-like character which I’m assuming is the spirulina algae. Medium body, smooth texture and moderate carbonation. Not that great of a beer, but a neat experiment overall. Keep doing what you do, DFH.
