4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20 drunkenpolack (258) - Virginia Beach, Virginia, USA - FEB 3, 2012
Old Review from 2010 - Saison Du Buff pours a hazy golden color with a 2 finger white fluffy head. Great retention and lacing throughout the glass. The smell on this one is big. Up front your definitely going to notice all the herbs and spices just here. It hits you first. I also picked up a nice bit of grassy hops and lemon.
Taste is more of the same for the most part but the grassy hops sit up front a bit. Of course the herbs just plow through all that and attack the palette. For me the rosemary came through the most followed by the sage. But all ingredients are very noticeable and are pretty damn big. It makes for the most interesting saison I’ve ever had. Wouldn’t expect anything else from these boys. The taste ends with the usually yeasty taste you get from a saison.
The mouthfeel is light with a nice amount of carbonation. Goes down easy and quick.

12oz bottle, slight hazy honey gold hue, with a big rocky white head, nice fruity, yeasty, provenciale spicy herbs nose with some pineapple, grapefruit, lemon peel esters, and some mild dominant rosemary, parsley, thyme accents in the aroma follows through on a medium-bodied palate with a very nice tropical fruity, lychee, rambutan, pear, lemon, grapefruit yeastiness, within a good spicy provenciale herbs character, of light thyme, rosemary, parsley mainly, with a faint flowery citrus, leafy, grassy hop undertone and a zesty lime, green grapefruit rind note, leading towards a mild spicy thyme, rosemary herbal, lingering citrus peel hop bitterness finish.
3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 cakanator (440) - South Hadley, Massachusetts, USA - NOV 16, 2011
On tap at sierra. I’ve had all 3 versions, and loved the DFH version the most, but this was really solid on tap. The herbal and floral element of this offering was crazy. Great color, nice medium golden hue, white head. The palate is dry and refreshing, lively spices on the outer edges, bitter, but smooth across the palate at the same time. I don’t think I could drink alot of this one, but it was fun to have.
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 demdeac40 (291) - Etowah, North Carolina, USA - OCT 14, 2011
Slightly cloudy, dark straw colored with a frothy white head. The aroma is sweet with hints of mint and sage. A lot going on in the nose. The herbs really come through on the palate. The sage and rosemary are very apparent. Sweet on the mid-palate and finishes with a slight herbal aftertaste and nice bitterness. A whole lot going on in this bottle of beer but I actually wouldn’t expect anything less from these breweries.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 ansjelaah (64) - Westelbeers, NETHERLANDS - OCT 10, 2011
Gedronken in Brussel in Moeder Lambic, het heeft een gele heldere kleur met een witte schuimkraag. Het ruikt naar de afwas, citrus en gras. Verder smaakt het ook naar citrus, fris, bitter, pittig.
3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 DutchDrebus (1112) - Oirschot, NETHERLANDS - SEP 28, 2011
Draught @ Moeder Lambic during the Stone vs Moeder Lambic event. I believed we shared the last bit of this keg. Yellow to almost greenish colour with a big white head. Smells spicy, ginger and sambal. Tastes spicy but fresh. Dry and bitter. Medium body.
