Drank from the bottle. This beer makes me want to try other saison’s. spicy, fruity, and a nice hop kick. Nice stuff.

3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
straw yellow, hazy, 1cm eggshell head, medium-fine, moderate-fast rate of decay. Aroma is semi-seet lactic tartness, not exactly pleasant. herbs. Body is light-medium-light, oily-watery. moderate carbonation, slightly prickly. Flavor is also semi-sweet tart, herbal, slightly medicinal, slight bitterness to finish that lingers a little.

4.1 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Appearance: Light golden hazy body with a short fluffy white head. Some faint visible carbonation. The head doesn’t last long and leaves scant lacing.
Aroma: It has a very potent "Saison" characteristic on the nose. Strong sour aroma like rotting fruit, black pepper scent, pungent mildew. All the horrible scents that are expected in a great Sason. Horray!
Taste: I get a light wheat flavor with a bit of tangy bite. There is a spicy hop bitterness and I am distinctly picking up thyme and what tastes to me like oregano. Overall it is a light tasting beer that heavily showcases this spicy and even somewhat floral flavor.
Mouthfeel: It is a light beer that finishes halfway dry and leaves a coating of spicy bitterness on the mouth. It works out very nicely.
Overall: It is a very unique tasting beer that I probably wouldn’t drink more than one of, and it doesn’t currently leave me craving for another. However it is very well crafted and leaves enough room in the overall flavor that the spice in the beer doesn’t consume it entirely. I would not recommend it specifically to Saison drinkers, but rather to pale ale and IPA drinkers who are always searching for new hop flavors (specifically herbal ones). This actually does a fair job of scratching the itch for new hop flavors (even though it is predominantly flavored through cooking herbs). I would recommend it.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Saison du BUFF doesn’t compare to anything I’ve had before. The nose is unique even if I can’t isolate any of the ingredients enough to go "fine use of parsley." That said, this is well worth trying because of the aroma, taste and finish--all very different. Glad I found a single of this on MKE Discount Liquor’s rare beer day in December 2014.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Shared a bottle, pint glass. Cloudy pale straw-yellow. The spices are not what I would expect in a great beer . . . and this isn’t great. But the beer is good: an interesting experience.

Bottle (trade with non Rate Beer member); pours a cloudy yellow with a big white head; aroma is citrus and herbs; taste is very herbal and grassy with some hops and spice; finishes dry; interesting beer and this one grew on me more as I drank it but I don’t think I will have it again

1.6 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 4/20
Rating from October 2010....Smells like a stank ass barnyard upon opening...pale golden color (piss??)....off white head...oh my.....yeah so it sat for a minute with the same pungent stank....way to stay true to the style DFH...bitter stinky flavor sharp and foul just not the brew for me...sadly I just don’t like this style very much

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle. Pours a slightly hazy yellow gold body under a one inch frothy white head. The nose is very herbal and spicy with mostly sage and rosemary over a light pale malt base. Just a light hint of yeastiness. The flavor is an interesting mixture of kitchen spices, I get a fair amount of sage, thyme, and parsley. The dominant spice seems to change with each sip. Not sure I’m really 100% into this one, but it sure is interesting. Light malt and yeastiness later on towards the finish. Light bodied and soft with gentle carbonation. Interesting beer, I think I’d give the other two versions a try.

Unique taste, and I can’t separate the four spices...but the combination is tasty! Cloudy with solid body. Should be available again!

4.5 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
12 oz bottle poured into pint glass. Pours a hazy yellow orange gold with almost no head. The no head is literally the only weak trait of this beer. It is well balanced and compkexed. Earthy and herby but yet light. Would suggest to anyone.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 14/20
Very cloudy yellow orange color, white frothy head. Sweet oranges, tangerine, lemon, wheat. Soft carbonation, sweet off the start with peach, banana, sage rally comes through, rosemary there also, little to no bitterness. This is very smooth, slightly sweet and easy to drink.
