COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The idea for this beer germinated way back in 2003 when the three guys (Sam from Dogfish, Greg from Stone and Bill from Victory) formed the BUFF alliance (Brewers United for Freedom of Flavor) - a noble endeavor with the goal to highlight the passion and camaraderie of the American craft brew movement.
So, BUFF didn’t really do anything (beyond talk a lot of talk) until 2010 when the three brewers finally got together to jointly brew at beer at the Stone Brewery. Saison du BUFF will first be brewed at Stone and then replicated at each of the other two breweries - same recipe, same ingredients, three different breweries throughout 2010.
Plans call for Saison du BUFF to be a 6% alc/vol Saison brewed with parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme. This beer will be brewed three times, once at each brewery using the same recipe. The expected release dates for each brew are as follows:

Chalice from bottle. A: Very fragrant, fruity, bready, yeasty, slight citrus, some hoppyness, some herbs- sage and rosemary. App: slightly hazy gold. 4 finger, frothy, crisp bubbly head that disperses at a medium rate. Levees a nice lace T: much more bitter than expected, not much on the front, some citrus notes on the back, lots of lemon. very lengthy aftertaste. P: mostly crisp, smooth on the back. Disappointing, not half as good as last year.

Bottle, 12oz. A hazy, orange-colored beer topped by a dense, two-finger off-white colored head that lasts and leaves lacings. The aroma has a quite nice herbal spicyness, with resins, grass and a touch of pale malts. Some peppery, yeasty hints too. It’s quite effervescent, dry and full-bodied. Herbal, lightly yeasty flavor with oranges, some pepper and grass and a pleasant bitterness. Lasting finish. Well balanced herbs in this one, an easy drinkable and tasteful beer I could easily down a few of. 150619

Pours hazy deep golden with a off-white head. Aroma has notes of malt, yeast, herbs and hint of citrus. Taste is medium sweet and light bitter with a long herbal, yeasty and fruity finish. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft.

Bottle - huge pillowy head, pale straw color, definite floral and herbal aroma and flavor, don't think I would be able to pick out the individual herbs, but almost tastes like some mint in there too, good yeasty spicy finish, different and interesting, ok overall ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Poured from a 12 ounce bottle, thanks to my sister. Pours a beautiful gold with bright white head. The aroma is herbal, minty, slightly phenolic, and estery. The flavor is very pleasant. Strong herbal qualities, mint, sage, the spices are very prominent, but I still find this to be a nice beer.

TheCaptMatey (183) - Ohio, USA - APR 14, 2015
Poured a pale gold colour with a fluffy white head. Aroma of lemon, yeast rosemary, and sage. Flavor is quite herbal and bitter with light citrus undertones. Medium-light bodied with moderate bitterness and a dry bitter herbal finish. Mix of titular herbs and citrus is quite refreshing at first, but bitterness slowly overwhelms the senses with a grassy element. Enjoyable when paired with Indian food.

Poured a hazy light yellow. There was a tall foamy white head initially, but dropped to half a finger quickly. The aroma was predominately bready yeast with some lemony tartness. The beer was light and slightly tart. The beer had a fresh taste to it. There was a good bite from the rosemary in the beer. A hint of thyme was detected later in the drinking of the glass. The flavor of this beer was unique.

Bottle. Pours a hazy yellow pour with a thin white head. Light, citrus aroma with lemon zest notes. Smooth taste with some chardonnay notes. Grassy flavor with some citrus in the background. Pretty good Saison.

bottle - Pours hazy gold with a lingering white head. It smells of herbals, especially sage, yeast, and some fruity notes. The flavor is moderately bitter and herbal with a pleasant fruity character. It has a medium body and a dry finish. Really tasty.

12 ounce bottle. Pours a cloudy golden orange with a decent white head. Aroma of citrus and spice. Taste is lemon, banana, spices, and malt. A bit different, but still enjoyable.

Bottle. The pour is very light. The aroma certainly is full of spice. The taste is an interesting blend. Better than I was expecting, good. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
