COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The idea for this beer germinated way back in 2003 when the three guys (Sam from Dogfish, Greg from Stone and Bill from Victory) formed the BUFF alliance (Brewers United for Freedom of Flavor) - a noble endeavor with the goal to highlight the passion and camaraderie of the American craft brew movement.
So, BUFF didn’t really do anything (beyond talk a lot of talk) until 2010 when the three brewers finally got together to jointly brew at beer at the Stone Brewery. Saison du BUFF will first be brewed at Stone and then replicated at each of the other two breweries - same recipe, same ingredients, three different breweries throughout 2010.
Plans call for Saison du BUFF to be a 6% alc/vol Saison brewed with parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme. This beer will be brewed three times, once at each brewery using the same recipe. The expected release dates for each brew are as follows:

Sd bottle. Poured hazy yellow with a big white head. Herbal aroma sage with some citrus hoppyness. Flavor is firmly bitter, with nice rosemary notes. Dry finisher, very nice.

Rating from October 2010....Smells like a stank ass barnyard upon opening...pale golden color (piss??)....off white head...oh my.....yeah so it sat for a minute with the same pungent stank....way to stay true to the style DFH...bitter stinky flavor sharp and foul just not the brew for me...sadly I just don’t like this style very much

Bottle. Pours a slightly hazy yellow gold body under a one inch frothy white head. The nose is very herbal and spicy with mostly sage and rosemary over a light pale malt base. Just a light hint of yeastiness. The flavor is an interesting mixture of kitchen spices, I get a fair amount of sage, thyme, and parsley. The dominant spice seems to change with each sip. Not sure I’m really 100% into this one, but it sure is interesting. Light malt and yeastiness later on towards the finish. Light bodied and soft with gentle carbonation. Interesting beer, I think I’d give the other two versions a try.

Unique taste, and I can’t separate the four spices...but the combination is tasty! Cloudy with solid body. Should be available again!

12 oz bottle poured into pint glass. Pours a hazy yellow orange gold with almost no head. The no head is literally the only weak trait of this beer. It is well balanced and compkexed. Earthy and herby but yet light. Would suggest to anyone.

Very cloudy yellow orange color, white frothy head. Sweet oranges, tangerine, lemon, wheat. Soft carbonation, sweet off the start with peach, banana, sage rally comes through, rosemary there also, little to no bitterness. This is very smooth, slightly sweet and easy to drink.

This pours a light, murky yellow color with a slight off-white head. The aroma is unique with hints of the sage and thyme.

Bottle - Pours lightly hazy golden with a filmy white head. Nose is herbal--I don’t know if I get parsley, sage, rosemary, and thyme--more cardamom. It doesn’t get into perfume territory, and the malt is dry and crackery. Taste is roughly the same, though there is a bit more sweetness and a bitter finish. Soft and fluffy in the mouth. Better than I expected.

Bottle. Pours hazy yellow with a nice white somewhat lasting frothy head that leaves no lace. Aroma of fresh sage, lemon and parsley. It’s like drinking a fresh garden salad with overtones of malt. Quite different than the usual and nicely refreshing. A bit too much carbonation.

Pours a yellow color with a foamy white head. Aroma is lemon and spices, such as Rosemary, thyme, and parsley. Flavor is the same. Comes off sweet and lightly bitter. Much better than I imagined. I enjoyed this very much.

Cloudy yellow pour with small white head. Aroma of citrus, pepper, herbal notes, hops. Taste of citrus, peppery dryness, herbal notes and hops. Light bodied, higher carbonation, dry finish.
