The head fades to a thin ring rather quickly and leaves minimal lacing. Aroma is out-of-this-world awesome! Extreme amounts of roasted malts and coffee with a little bit of chocolate, cherry, and just enough alcohol to notice it. Flavor was standard imperial stout, yet intensified by ten. I did find the flavor a little too boozy for my taste. I also found the palate to be a little on the thin side, but I give major credit for that warming feeling going on in my stomach. It coats like those pepto-bismol commercials! I respect this beer for all its accomplishments, but I can’t honestly say it’s my favorite imperial stout. waltersrj (101), Washington, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Feb 6, 2010 12 oz bottle. Oct 2009. Pours black...dark, dark black. The nose is alcohol, roasted coffee, chocolate truffle, vanilla, cherry cough syrup, and roasted barley. Taste is dark chocolate, alcohol, vanilla, cherry, malt, roasted barley, and raisinettes. The palate is heavy and oily. No lacing and a quickly disappearing tan head. Medium carbonation that quickly fades with the head. This stout is amazing. I am glad I’ve got a few more to cellar for years. My 100th rating!!! Pipper (279), Ohio, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Feb 5, 2010 Woof. This thing really bowled me over. Aroma was like rum-soaked rains crossed with Viking Blod mead. Flavor was SUPER boozy, molasses and belied the seemingly watery appearance in the snifter. Pretty sweet offering from DFH. dtborelli (38), Sacramento, California, USA

World Wide Stout 2009
Bought five at a small bottle and cigar shop in Incline Village, North Lake Tahoe. Absolutely stunned that it was there (the shop has a great selection). Opened the first one after Greg Wilson’s funeral RIP. We miss you. Pours thick reddish black with virtually no head. Oily on the glass. Smells like everything. Prunes, cherries, cough syrup, raisins, alcohol, malt, chocolate, everything. Taste was all alcohol and cough syrup at first, but it was too cold. We let it warm up and the aromas and flavor improved. Strong dark cherries on the nose as it warmed and same with the flavor. Very sweet and boozy. Thought I was drinking a port for a second. Complex and overwhelming. It is good and very different from almost everything else. I am glad I split the bottle with my wife. Will be interested to see how the other four age, but not an everyday drink. Too sum it up, holy shit.

Aroma was initially roasty, chocolate, alcoholic, with hint of dark fruit. Poured a thick, heavy black with a minimal head, lacing the edges of the glass - much like a typical stout. For a beer this heavy and dark, I was suprised how sweet it was ... some burnt flavors, dark bitter chocolate, medium to heavy bitterness throughout. Palate had a very full body, thick texture, long finish, and a surprising amount of carbonation considering that others thought it was a little flat. This is definitely a sipper ... one that improves as it warms to room temperature. I cant wait to see what this tastes like in a couple years!! jcos (108), Maryland, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Feb 1, 2010 Very dark color. Very rich and complex taste of chocolate. Tough to get through an entire one, but a very good beer. Glouglouburp (2965), Montreal, Quebec, Canada
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Feb 1, 2010 In short: A excellent big, somewhat boozy and pleasantly complex imperial stout.
How: Bottle 12oz. Vintage 2006 or 2007 (green cap). Consumed when about 2 to 3 year old.
The look: Black body topped by a small tan head
In long: Nose of an alcoholised black cake. Taste has a bit of everything you can fit in an imperial stout. Highly roasted malts, molasses, chocolate, raisins pie, vanilla, black liquorice, roasted almonds, caramel, a bit of maple syrup, brownies, even some bananas. The only usual impy stout flavour missing is coffee. The alcohol is present but not bothersome, the beer is actually quite drinkable. Soft carbonation and full body. All in all this is superior imperial stout with enough complexity to make it a pleasant sipper. Maybe the most drinkable over 15% beer I’ve had. Once I bought a six-pack. I vaguely remember being fingerprinted. ben4321 (1157), Rockville, Maryland, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jan 29, 2010 Location: 12 oz bottle, 1/29/10
Aroma: Roasted malts, chocolate, dark cherries, licorice, raisins, booze, smoke, and wood
Appearance: This beer pours a dark brown color with a thin brown head
Flavor: Taste is malty, somewhat sweet, fruity, and smokey, touch of bitterness in the finish
Palate: Full bodied brew, it is hot, though not as hot as you might expect, carbonation is soft (almost flat)
Overall Impression:
This is a very nice beer, there is quite a lot going on with this one, it is pretty complex. I liked it quite a bit. While it is pretty hot, I thought I remember the booze being even more in your face. Well made, a flavorful and boozy winner.
