World Wide Stout is one of the world’s strongest dark beers. It is brewed using six different yeast strains over seven months and then aged for half a year. Dark, rich, roasty, and complex, World Wide Stout has more in common with a fine port than a can of cheap, mass-marketed beer (released in early winter with very limited availability).

The bottle looks very good, although there’s not much information on it. The beer in the glass is deep black. Starts very sweet, turns then very dry and malty, also prickly. Notes of strong coffee. Warming and well balanced finish. Very good beer!

2001 bottle thanks to egajdzis for sharing at the DFH vertical tasting of 1/27/2007. Pours mostly still- very slight carbonation- thin film of a head- aroma is sweet sugary- brown sugar, sweetness, toffee, plums dominate the ester profile, raisin, and lots of woody rum- molasses and coffee and chocolate- charred burnt character with the alcohol and roast in the end. Strange and seemed even in 2007 that it was going down hill.

Bottle 2008 Pours a deep dark brown with a diminishing tan head. Laces pretty well. Has a wonderful aroma of spicies, alcohol, swwet malts and fruits. Has a good blending with a subtle alcohol burn. The high ABV is well hidden. Has good flavor on the tongue. Good carbination and a real good mouthfeel. Has a good solid finish. A medium body. I waited a while to have one of these and it is awesome.

[1974-20090124] Tap. Mild roast plum and mild band-aid aroma. Black body with a long-lasting creamy tan head. Very boozy roasty plum and coffee grounds flavour. Full-body. A little rough but good.

[Bottle from 2007 with bright yellow cap? says Bottled in 2007] So, rating 997, 3 to go. I suppose this is one of those beers I absolutely have to have had to be a Beer God, so here goes it. Served at room temp. Pours a very dark unclear near black with a very small fizzy beige head, doesn’t appear as thick or oily as many imperial stouts. Strong aroma of sherry, touch of raisin, decaying grass, hairspray, lots alcohol vapors. Very nice flavor, far from the thick viscous dark bitter bomb I was expecting, more sophisticated like a port or sherry. This is quite delicious and I’m really surprised. First taste is rich and sweet but not quite cloying, quickly becomes nutty with wonderful sherry notes and molasses, finishes much sweeter very close to cloying and more like port with lots of figs and dates. Long chocolate aftertaste with just a slight fantastic burn. Great palate, much lighter than expected, not extremely viscous nor sticky, medium/full mouthful finishing syrupy with sharp fizzy carbonation. Unbelievably drinkable. Fantastic and I can’t believe I waited so long to open one of these, nor can I understand how this is an imperial stout, seems like more of a dark barley wine ala J.W. Lees. I still have an 05 in the cellar. [Chilled 1/3 the bottle down just a tiny bit, 55F, become extremely cloying, more roasty and less port like, some cookie, green banana, phenolic, not good]

2008 bottle. Another old one from the backlog. I’ve had this beer a dozen times. Pours a deep brown with a minimal head. Nose has definite booze, raisins, figs, chocolate, caramel. Crazy complex. Flavor is much like the nose rich and complex and reminiscent of a vintage port. Huge decadent chocolate, cherries, figs, raisins, brown sugar, molasses and definite alcohol. This is a sipper but its still a damn fine beer.

Port/Brandy like nose, with a nice hint of alcohol, much less than you would expect of such a big beer. Flavor is very intense, very port like again, little head and carbonation. Taste has licorice, molasses, and barley. The finish is almost perfect, leaves you with a savory mouthfeel. Hands down ne of the best big beers in the world

bottled 11-14-08...pours dark dark brown with little to no head, teryiaki soy aromas that are very strong but delightful, alcohol was very apparent but not bad, very warming palate but still smooth, a very enjoyable beer.
