World Wide Stout is one of the world’s strongest dark beers. It is brewed using six different yeast strains over seven months and then aged for half a year. Dark, rich, roasty, and complex, World Wide Stout has more in common with a fine port than a can of cheap, mass-marketed beer (released in early winter with very limited availability).

Just now I had my first ever Dogfish Head World Wide Stout! The other day I drank Rocherforts 10, and raved about it being el-perfecto, well once again I must rate this justt as high. I poured it into a stien, I held it up to a bright light, Dark indeed! I could hardly see through it, The aroma madfe be anxious to taste, and taste I did, wow Flavor is great, after taste super, so easy on the palate. I love it, if only it was’nt so expensive, (then again you get what you pay for) I’m retired and on a fixed income will have to pick my moments to enjoy. No small wonder this is 28th on world wide vratings and second only to Rocherfort 10 and beers to be had in Delaware.

on tap @ papago. nearly black pour with a thin tan ring for a ’head’. the aroma is a robust monster...tar, licorice, black raisins, very strongly brewed coffee, alcohol and fingernail polish remover which i assume is very floral. the flavor has lots of prunes, coffee, extreme maltiness, black raisins, light smokiness, vanilla and a ton of alcohol. painfully sweet and rather unpleasant. so much sugar and the alcohol is still a monster? hot finish with a sweet coffee aftertaste. medium body is thin when you think about how many sugar calories are in here. if you pureed prunes, hootch and coffee together with a handful of sugar you’d get wws. oddly reminiscent of jager...9/4/5/3/13/3.4 is generous because of it’s ability to age... we’ll see in a few years...

2001 bottle with ’vim and vigor’ via psprings... pours still and thick... rather ominous. the aroma is of rich chocolate and port wine with notes of silage and wood. no sign of the alcohol on the nose. the palate is still a sticky mess... salty, woody and vinous with a big ol’ scoop of malt syrup.... 5/4/4/3/10/2.6

i truly can see why people like it. hey, some people eat worms. it’s just not for me....

I tried this last December. As a recall it was a very tasty stout. Pours very dark with a short dense head. Flavors were complex of roasted coffee, chocolate, and toffee. Overall an excellent beer with a good bite.

12oz single (dark green cap) from Bayville Package Store, Selbyville, DE...I’ve had this (and 120 IPA) sitting around since last summer, finally cracked it open!...pours black with a deep tan head...rich smell of malts and dark fruits...taste includes the same with an added combo of coffee-chocolate-molasses...little bit of alcohol in the aftertaste but very well hidden...nice treat.

12 oz. bottle from Broudy’s Liquor and Beer Store at Jacksonville Beach, FL. Bottle Cap is Dark Green. Bottle neck is date stamped with Yellow markings "Bottled 10/10/2006". $8.95 for one bottle. Yeesh. Beer pours a deep dark brown with a luscious tan head. Upon inspection of the bottle, I notice a touch of sediment at the bottom of it. Swirl it around and add it to the fun. Aroma is a nice deep cocoa with some nice raisin notes. Taste is a nice, rich malt with a raisins and chocolate. Very light burn from the alcohol on the finish. This is an awesome beer.

Dogfish Head World Wide Stout 2007 is a fantastically complex ale. The color is pitch black with a very attractive caramel/mocha head. The aroma is very sweet with raisins and alcohol. The taste is like no other with malt, molasses, coffee, chocolate and a bit of alcohol present. This is a fantastic imperial stout that is perfect in almost everyway. The only chiticism I have is that the high alcohol level makes it hard for me to enjoy more than one at a time. Vintage: 2007 - Bright yellow cap, date stamp on bottle neck

Opaque black pour with a very thing tan head. Very nice aroma. Coffee and malt with some sweetness. Some lactic acid as well as a bit of fruit. Very creamy flavor with coffee and fruit. But way too sweet. Almost syruppy. Very complex, but ruined by the sweetness. Body was a little thin as well.

I stayed away from this beer for a long time...had a bottle from ’06 sitting in my fridge for over 2 years. Finally opened her up, served it in a wine glass at 45 degrees, and was surprised by the entire experience. Beautiful color, and tan had. The nose on this beer is very heavy and complex, everything from black licorice to iced coffee. First sip I expected strong alcohol notes, but was pleasantly surprised by sweet, sugary flavor that it took on. The body on this is thick and sweet all the way down. Very impressive beer that can hold up for a very long time of aging.
