World Wide Stout is one of the world’s strongest dark beers. It is brewed using six different yeast strains over seven months and then aged for half a year. Dark, rich, roasty, and complex, World Wide Stout has more in common with a fine port than a can of cheap, mass-marketed beer (released in early winter with very limited availability).

Wintage 2005. Dark brown colour - almost black, with absolutely no head at all. Nice sweet aroma of rom, syrup, mollases, roastedness, and dried fruit. Very sweet malty flavour with notes of sugar, roastedness, and some alcohol. I doubt it really holds that much alcohol ?!

Thanks JoeMcPhee fro the bottle. Strong aroma of Liquorice, coffee and barley. Black in colour with a thin lace. Rich, wild berry flavour. Coffee and liquorice flavours come through. Smooth texture with a clean finish. Fruity notes in the finish. I enjoyed this more than last time.

2005 bottle: When I poured this beer, the smell was unbecoming of a great beer. The pour was off used motor oil with little to no head. The first taste was a mixture of raisins, bread flavor and a chocolate finish with just a hint of the alcohol that it has in it. Word to the wise, this is a beer better sipped on in a course of an hour than drank like a frat boy looking for a quick buzz.

Pours thick black with no head. Aroma is incredibly sweet with abundant citrus, dark fruit, coffee, chocolate, tobacco, raisin, port, oak, and spicy clove. Flavor is similarly strong and complex: chocolate, coffee, clove, port, raisin, tobacco, plum, roasted malt. Nice bitter finish and, surprisingly, the palate is not overly-cloying. Really an amazing beer, but one for which I need to be in the right frame of mind.

Beautiful red copper head that disapated quickly. Aroma is dark fruit and roasted wood. Taste is Sweet port, raisins and oak forward and plum finsh with mild long bitter. Taste the alcohol but there is no burn to it. This is a special occasion beer at $9/ bottle. I’d do it again.

2007 bottle from SoLan, thanks! Almost black, opague. Intense malty aroma with licorice and chocolate. Very sweet, malty flavor with licorice, caramel, laurel and molasses. The obvious alcohol bite is almost forgotten because of the intense sugary sweetness. I have severe doubts about the balance and even the necessity of this malt beverage. But it sure tastes good!

I may enjoy this i I store the bottle for a year or so. The alcohol is a bit much in this latest batch. I have another bottle which I shall keep for a while and retry. hard to say all these folks are wrong.
