Dogfish Head World Wide Stout 2001/2003-Present (18%)

Pours an opache black with a very small beige head. Strong aroma of dates, cherries, toffee, walnuts, smoke, beets and raisons. Very strong sweet flavor of coffee, chocolate, roasted malt, ripe cherry, plum and sugar beet. Creamy texture with a nice warming sensation. Long fruity finish, very full body.

Nice thick black pour with good head. Creamy roasted pecan aroma with some alcohol - smells quite malty and sweet. Tastes like run-raisin coffee cake - a bit too much alcohol for me - it almost stings the lips. Palate is smooth and creamy. Not awful - just not the greatest imperial stout I have ever tasted.

OMG...it’s impossible to review this stuff without being completely affected by the 18% but I will try. First notes, a smoky, malty chocolaty flavor accented with the whirlwind nose of alcohol. Flavors are a smooth chocolate syrup flavor that dissolves into the bite of the alcohol. It doesn’t taste 18%, but it doesn’t exactly taste 0% if you know what I mean.

12oz, bottled 10/10/06. Had a purple cap. Pours a deep, dark chocolate brown/black, no light shines through. Very little brown head that fades quickly to just a ring around the glass. Smells sweet, and malty. Slightly toasty. Tastes of super sweet malts, a hint of coffee, and a finish/aftertaste of alcohol. Mouthfeel is super thick, not much carbonation to speak of (it really could use some). Coats the mouth thoroughly. You know, I like DFH’s agro brews but this one is just too sweet for me.

Pours a dark black color with a medium tan head. Aromas of raisin,malts,dark fruits a tick of hop and a ton of alcohol. Flavor of roasted malts, molasses and some hop. The only negative is the big alcohol flavor at the end, otherwise not bad! Thanks for sharing Ubamartian!

Pours black with tan head. Dissipates quickly. Aroma chocolate coffee. Hops roasted barley. Taste. Complex roasted malts, barleyt coffee chocolate oh my. Beatuful. Great smooth thick mouthfeel. A tad too strong on the alcohol in the aroma and aftertaste are the only things holding this back!

Pours an intensely thick black with a medium tan head. Aroma is of malts drenched in alcohol. The taste is a fine mix of dark chocolate, roasted malts, and black cherry with the reward of a big alcohol finish. If you’re drinking a whole 12 oz bottle of this stuff, keep the pretzel bowl filled at all times.
