2007 - Dark green cap, date stamp
2008 - Yellowish-green cap, date stamp
World Wide Stout is one of the world’s strongest dark beers. It is brewed using six different yeast strains over seven months and then aged for half a year. Dark, rich, roasty, and complex, World Wide Stout has more in common with a fine port than a can of cheap, mass-marketed beer (released in early winter with very limited availability).

Tried a 2003 vintage with Turdferguson (Thanks Sam). Poured a dark viscous that allows some light through. Sits black in the glass. Leaves a black film when swirled and manages to coax a one finger creamy brown head. Nice mellow nose, lite alcohol, fruits, molasses, sweet but not cloying. Nice mellow flavor, hides the 18% well (as in it feels like 10%), molasses, smooth portlike flavors, grape tannins and vanilla with warmth. The palate is very full and viscous, velvet. Goes down warm.

Pours a deep, oily black/brown with a tannish/brown head. The nose is sweet and rich with a bit of milk chocolate. The flavor is sweet, reminds me of a sweet, strong liquor. Finishes with a rum like after-taste. Really good but I’d save it for a special dessert. 2006 bottling.

2003 batch, notched in side of label. Gold cap. Poured out a dark chocolate brown, with a very minimal mocha colored head. Tasted in a vertical with the 23%ABV 2002 batch. Aromas are more blended than the 2002 batch. They consist of dark chocolate truffles, baking chocolate, roasted malts and some coffee. Flavors are of molasses, rum soaked raisins, grape skins, alcohol. This beer has less alcohol than it’s older cousin, but it still packs a wallop. Thick & chewy mouthfeel. Slick, oily and smooth as silk going down. The hops have stuck around in this batch, providing balance to the huge malty flavors. Truly a godsend of beers. Makes me wish I had more than 4 more aging in my cellar.

Wow, doesn’t really taste like an 18% beer. Pours black with a thin brown head. Nicely sweet chocolate aroma. Seems like it has some dark fruit in it. Very sweet and the chocolate and coffee tones come through well. I enjoyed this beer a lot. Goes down smooth.

Pours black with a quickly dissipating tan head. Aroma is chocolate, dark fruit, and alcohol. Taste is slight chocolate and hoppy with some alcohol burn. Don’t understand the love for this beer. Not good. To the drain it goes. Save yourself the money and lick a bum’s asshole for free.

Ridiculous. Beer shouldn’t be this good. Read the other reviews for the taste etc. I’m just going to rave about it. So good you can’t have just one and you can’t handle much more than one. Simply wonderful.

Pours a dense opaque black with a 1/2" head that dissipates to a small cap, then foam at edges. Roasted malt predominant with fig and/or raisin to the nose. Taste is spectacular, roasted malt with some fruit notes. Alcohol very well hidden considering how high the ABV is. Marvelous mouthfeel, so smooth, full bodied and mouth coating. Drinkability is high despite the ABV. Just a wonderful experience to finally get my hands on a couple of these.

2007 bottle consumed on 1/31/09. WWS gets better with some age on it... it really mellows out a bit and becomes more dynamic... some nice dark fruits in the aroma and over the palate. full body, mainly on top of the mouth... long lasting finish with dark fruit, a touch of alcohol and some cherries. a true pleasure to experience. ’07 bottle. WWS is an intense beer. Not your typical Imp. Stout by far... doesn’t even compare to Imp. Stouts all that well... much more like a liquor. There is a lot of sweetness, alcohol and kahlua like liquor in this... Pours a deep dark thick black with no carbonation or head. Aromas of sweet malts, coffee and alcohol. Very sweet and full bodied on the palate with a quick alcohol presence on the tip of the tongue that carries through to the back and the finish. A bit too sweet overall, but an excellent beer that has been pushed past the limits of ordinary brewing. Sip this one, it will bite you in the ass.
